Executive – Sustainability
We are seeking a dynamic and committed professional to join our Sustainability Division as Executive – Sustainability at Kelani Valley Plantations PLC. The ideal candidate should have a passion for sustainability, with sound understanding on plantation industry operations and plantation sustainability strategies, and ability to drive impactful initiatives in line with international sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive and implement sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) strategies at regional and operational levels in alignment with the company's overall sustainability goals as guided by Head of Sustainability.
- Facilitate and monitor compliance with international/ Local sustainability certifications (regenagri, Rainforest Alliance, FSC, ISO/ HACCP, Eco- Label, Organic, etc.) with strong internal control mechanism while conducting awareness and capacity-building programs to integrate sustainability into daily operations.
- Support estate-level sustainability assessments, audits, and stakeholder engagements.
- Promote sustainable agriculture practices, climate-resilient initiatives, biodiversity conservation, and carbon footprint reduction initiatives across plantations.
- Monitor and report on key sustainability KPIs and ensure continuous improvement.
- Collaborate and ability to work closely with Estate Management, staff and operational work-force to foster a culture of sustainability.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including local communities, regulatory bodies, and international partners, to enhance sustainable business practices.
Drive corporate sustainability reporting and stakeholder engagement for transparent disclosures.
Candidate Profile:
- A degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications would be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in sustainability/ESG roles, preferably within the plantation or agribusiness sector.
- In-depth understanding of the plantation industry, field-level dynamics, and estate culture.
- Demonstrated passion for sustainable development and ability to translate global agribusiness sustainability standards into actionable estate-level practices.
- Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Sinhala (Tamil proficiency would be an advantage).
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and lead sustainability-driven innovations.
- Passion for environmental stewardship and community development.
