Job vacancy: Employee Relations Specialist
The Employee Relations Specialist, reporting to the HR Operations Manager, plays a critical role in strengthening employee relations across MCB Group. As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will be part of an employee relations team that plays a key role in safeguarding strong employee relations practices across the Group, both locally and overseas, ensuring compliance with labour law, managing risk, and supporting fair, consistent people practices aligned with our values and Shared Ways of Working.
This role requires strong expertise in labour law, industrial relations, disciplinary and grievance handling, and stakeholder management.
In this role you will,
- Keep abreast of latest changes/developments/judicial decisions in legislation which will impact the HR management practices and liaise with concerned parties to ensure that system, internal policies and processes are updated accordingly and share relevant knowledge with colleagues;
- Build and maintain an effective collaboration with Unions to foster constructive and sustainable working relationships;
- Interpret and apply labour and industrial legislation, and associated regulations, advising internal stakeholders business on employee relations matters;
- Ensure grievance handling and disciplinary proceedings are conducted in a timely basis, in line with company policies and labour legislation, mitigating risks and safeguarding employee rights;
- Draft, review and provide relevant templates, contracts and correspondences in line with prevailing legislation and Group policies;
- Prepare, review and maintain Group HR Policies in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, ensuring legal compliance and awareness across the organisation;
- Represent the Bank when summoned by Courts or regulatory bodies in matters relating to employee relations;
- Advise internal stakeholders with regards to compliance with all employment related applicable laws, codes, rules, regulations and best practices;
- Creating awareness and organise training as required to HR collaborators and relevant stakeholders on updates to labour legislation and HR policies.

We are looking for candidates who have a minimum of:
Either
- A completed Bachelor in Law or equivalent field;
- At least 3 years of working experience within Employment Law/Employee Relations/Industrial Relations or equivalent.
Or
- A completed Diploma in Law or equivalent field;
- Over 5 years of working experience within Employment Law/Employee Relations/Industrial Relations or equivalent.
A combination of both qualifications & experience will be considered.
You will also be required to demonstrate:
- Communicates effectively, both oral and written;
- Maintains confidentiality at all times;
- Relates openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people;
- Knows when to act independently and when to escalate issues;
- Analyses and integrates numerical, verbal and other information while perceiving relationships and patterns, causes and effects.
