Liberty Mutual is seeking a strategic, enterprise-minded platform leader to steward and scale our Intelligent Work Platforms. This focuses on LibertyGPT, MS Copilot, and related GenAI based individual productivity capabilities.
This role is accountable for ensuring that Everyday AI capabilities are governed, connected, cost-effective, secure, and delivering measurable productivity impact across the enterprise.
The Director, Intelligent Work Platforms acts as the enterprise product owner and general manager for this portfolio. The mandate is not to chase tools, but to ensure we are solving the right problems, enabling the right behaviors, and advancing Liberty's AI maturity responsibly within a highly regulated environment.
Operating within Liberty's federated AI model:
  • Engineering teams build foundational GenAI and agentic capabilities
  • BU CIOs align platforms to business use cases and value realization

This role ensures our intelligent work platforms are a tailwind for the business: disciplined, scalable, and aligned to enterprise priorities.
Reporting to the CTO, Investments, Data, & Experience, this leader must combine strong product ownership, enterprise coordination, financial discipline, and change leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Enterprise Product Ownership & Platform Stewardship
  • Act as the Overall Product Lead (OPL) for Liberty's Intelligent Work Platform (Everyday AI portfolio) guiding strategic clarity and cohesion, enterprise alignment and outcome delivery
  • Translate enterprise priorities and 2030 goals into actionable platform roadmaps
  • Ensure the platform evolves based on real business needs not market hype
  • Maintain clarity on what EverydayAI is and is not, reinforcing disciplined adoption
  • Balance innovation with operational stability, governance, and cost discipline
  • Shape and evolve the Everyday AI ecosystem including connectors for context and data, aligned to architecture and AI backbone guardrails

2. Portfolio Discipline & Tool Evolution
  • Rationalize and optimize the enterprise portfolio of AI-enabled productivity tools
  • Contribute meaningful insights that will shape the investment and vendor strategy (e.g., OpenAI, Microsoft, AWS, Open AI, Anthropic, etc) in partnership with tech procurement team
  • Lead licensing strategy, seat optimization, and consumption oversight based on financial transparency in partnership with tech finance team.
  • Ensure platform decisions prioritize long-term enterprise value over short-term experimentation
  • Own platform operations, administration, performance, tracking KPIs, outcomes, and financial metrics (in partnership with our AIFinOps team)

3. Secure Knowledge Connectivity & Platform Risk Management
  • Drive prioritization of secure enterprise data connectivity (e.g., Liberty Information Fabric, MCP patterns)
  • Partner with Data Platform teams to enable entitlement-aware retrieval and governed knowledge access aligned with fit for purpose of Everyday AI tooling
  • Ensure platform capabilities integrate cleanly with enterprise architecture standards
  • Provide input to risk experts to enable the evolution of controls and risk frameworks in support of this fast-moving space
  • Partner with legal to translate evolving regulatory obligations (GDPR, EU AI Act, etc.) into practical platform constraints and opportunities
  • Shape governance narratives with clarity and confidence to enable Liberty to lead responsibly in scaling AI

4. Adoption, Education & Workforce Enablement
  • Establish KPIs for adoption, usage depth, and measurable productivity impact
  • Develop and scale enablement programs in partnership with PP&B GenAI culture and training teams and Tech strategy team
  • Ensure employees understand both the capabilities and the limitations of intelligent work platforms for individual productivity mission of Everyday AI level
  • Promote responsible usage patterns through structured education and clear communication
  • Reinforce a mindset shift from experimentation to sustainable, value-driven use

5. Federated Leadership & Cross-Enterprise Coordination
  • Operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment, influencing without direct authority
  • Support business unit technology teams in their Everyday AI strategies via well managed foundational components aligned with enterprise architecture standards
  • Engage enterprise risk and governance forums to report progress, manage risk exposure, and secure alignment
  • Be a core thought partner with cyber, legal, compliance, and PPB in designing GenAI guardrails that are risk-aware, not risk-averse
  • Ensure platform expansion aligns with Liberty's regulatory obligations and risk posture
  • Act as a connector within Liberty's federated operating model, coordinating across technology architecture, engineering and cyber teams.
Qualifications
Enterprise Platform & Product Leadership
  • 10+ years leading enterprise-scale digital or SaaS platforms

  • Skilled at balancing risk awareness with innovation momentum
  • Financial acumen to manage multi-million-dollar platform portfolios
