Director, Global Technology & Innovation Safety

Job Description:

The Role

Entegris is seeking a Director, Global Technology & Innovation Safety to lead and advance the safety, risk, and compliance strategy across the global Materials Solutions Technology & Innovation (T&I) organization. This role serves as the functional leader responsible for establishing the vision, governance model, standards, and organizational capabilities required to ensure safe, compliant, and sustainable innovation across all T&I environments globally. The position is part of the T&I Technical Operations organization and serves as the senior safety authority for T&I worldwide while maintaining strong alignment with Corporate EHS.

This position is preferably based in Aurora, Illinois; however, for the right candidate, the role may be based at another major Entegris location or be fully remote within a region where Entegris operates. Given the global scope of responsibility, the Director is expected to travel domestically and internationally as needed to engage with T&I teams, support site initiatives, strengthen organizational capability, and ensure consistent execution of safety programs and standards across regions.

Reporting through the T&I Technical Operations organization, this role will lead a global team of regional safety leaders and serves as the primary safety advisor to T&I leadership. The Director partners closely with Corporate EHS while maintaining responsibility for T&I specific safety strategy, governance, and execution.

The role is accountable for building a world class safety culture that enables innovation while proactively managing risk across laboratories, pilot plants, technical operations, workshops, utility systems, and capital projects throughout the global T&I network. Through strategic leadership, governance, digital transformation, and capability development, this role ensures T&I maintains the highest standards of safety performance, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence globally.

What You’ll Do

Establish the Global T&I Safety Strategy and Governance Model

  • Develop and own the multi-year global T&I safety strategy, roadmap, and operating model aligned with business objectives.
  • Establish the governance framework, standards, processes, and management systems required to drive consistent execution across all global locations.
  • Lead the global T&I Safety Council and governance processes to drive accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Help define rigorous annual safety objectives, priorities, metrics, and performance expectations across the T&I organization.
  • Partner with T&I and Corporate EHS leadership to align safety initiatives, standards, policies, and strategic investments.
  • Serve as the senior safety advisor to T&I leadership on emerging risks, operational readiness, and strategic decisions.
  • Influence enterprise safety strategy and contribute T&I best practices to the broader organization.

Own Safety, Risk, and Compliance Across T&I

  • Provide strategic leadership for laboratory safety, pilot plant safety, process safety, operational risk management, and regulatory compliance activities across all T&I environments.
  • Establish governance processes for high hazard work, chemical risk management, facility risk assessments, emergency preparedness, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure consistent application of risk management principles throughout research, development, scale up, and technical operations activities.
  • Lead enterprise level assessments of significant operational and safety risks impacting the T&I organization.
  • Maintain authority to escalate significant safety concerns and recommend stop work actions when conditions present unacceptable risk.
  • Partner closely with Corporate EHS to ensure alignment with corporate standards, regulatory expectations, and enterprise risk management priorities.

Drive Incident Learning, Root Cause Excellence, and Sustainable Risk Reduction

  • Establish global standards and governance for incident investigation, root cause analysis (RCA), 8D methodology, corrective action management, and organizational learning across the T&I organization.
  • Ensure investigations identify true systemic and organizational root causes, not merely symptoms, and translate findings into actionable lessons learned that are effectively communicated and adopted across sites.
  • Drive accountability for timely closure, validation, and long term effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions, with emphasis on eliminating systemic risks through engineering, process, and organizational controls.
  • Ensure lessons learned, corrective actions, and identified human, procedural, or training related gaps are systematically incorporated into standards, SOPs, onboarding programs, training curricula, and competency requirements to prevent recurrence and strengthen organizational capability.
  • Monitor trends, corrective action effectiveness, and recurring failure modes to drive continuous improvement, risk reduction, and enterprise wide learning.

Build Organizational Safety Capability and Culture

  • Establish and lead a global safety competency, onboarding, qualification, and leadership development framework that ensures personnel possess the knowledge, skills, and capabilities necessary to safely execute increasingly complex technical activities.
  • Develop long term strategies that strengthen safety leadership, hazard recognition, risk assessment, process safety, and operational discipline across all levels of the organization.
  • Foster a "Safety Always" culture where incident reporting, near miss identification, accountability, transparency, and continuous learning are expected, reinforced, and embedded in daily operations.
  • Build safety capability and culture as a strategic organizational advantage that enables innovation, operational excellence, workforce engagement, and sustained business success.

Advance Digital and AI Enabled Safety Systems

  • Define and execute the digital safety strategy for the global T&I organization.
  • Lead deployment of advanced analytics, digital workflows, artificial intelligence, and automation technologies that improve risk identification and decision making.
  • Establish safety dashboards, predictive analytics, and leading indicator systems to proactively manage risk.
  • Partner with digital, IT, and EHS organizations to scale technology enabled safety solutions globally.
  • Drive continuous improvement through innovative approaches that enhance efficiency, visibility, organizational learning, and risk mitigation.

Lead Global Safety Alignment and Enterprise Partnerships

  • Lead alignment across T&I, EHS, Quality, Operations, Engineering, and site leadership to drive consistent execution of global safety objectives.
  • Partner with Corporate EHS and business leaders to ensure alignment of T&I safety strategy with enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, and business priorities.
  • Build strong relationships across regions and functions to share best practices, accelerate adoption of improvements, and strengthen organizational learning.
  • Facilitate cross functional alignment on strategic priorities, risk mitigation plans, corrective actions, and long term capability investments.
