Role Purpose

To streamline data acquisition through advanced tagging and Mobile Measurement Partner (MMP) management, delivering automated, AI-enhanced ecommerce insights in collaboration with the broader ShopriteX Data teams.

Role Description

1. Digital Data Collection & Tagging Infrastructure

  • Own the end-to-end implementation and management of digital tracking via Google Tag Manager (GTM) and other relevant tagging technologies.
  • MMP Management: Maintain and optimise the AppsFlyer setup to ensure accurate mobile app attribution and data collection integrity across all mobile campaigns.
  • Ensure precise data capture across all digital touchpoints to support attribution, conversion tracking, and audience segmentation.
  • Conduct regular audits of existing tags and SDK implementations to maintain data hygiene and ensure compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., POPIA).
  • Collaborate with technical teams to troubleshoot tracking issues and implement server-side tagging solutions where necessary.
  • Understanding data attribution across channels and how to effectively measure business impact and uplift.

2. Advanced Ecommerce Reporting & Business Intelligence

  • Ecommerce Analytics: Develop comprehensive ecommerce reporting frameworks that track the full funnel, from acquisition to conversion and retention.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated dashboards (Looker Studio, Power BI, or similar) to provide real-time visibility into media performance.
  • Deliver high-quality ad-hoc analysis to support the Group Digital Media team in answering complex business questions.
  • AI Enhancement: Actively utilise and implement AI tools to facilitate faster data processing, predictive modelling, and enhanced visualisation techniques.

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field (Marketing/Media degrees considered with technical certification).
  • +5 years’ experience in a technical data analysis or performance insights role. A proven track record of managing complex datasets across the digital ecosystem, using advanced analytics to drive optimisations and scale marketing ROI is essential.
  • Expert proficiency in the Google Marketing Platform stack (GA4, BigQuery, DV360, GAM) and Meta Business Suite. Deep technical knowledge of tracking implementation, server-side tagging, and verification tools (e.g., GTM, IAS, DoubleVerify) is essential.
  • Advanced Data Visualisation & Literacy: Experience in translating raw media data into actionable insights using tools such as Looker Studio, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Broad knowledge of data privacy regulations (POPIA) and the evolving identity landscape (cookieless tracking and attribution modelling) is essential.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to perform deep-dive analysis into the retail media landscape, identifying trends that impact bottom-line business growth and customer lifetime value.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office – (essential).
  • Specialist Knowledge: Hands-on experience with AppsFlyer (or similar MMPs) and a deep understanding of ecommerce reporting metrics (ROAS, CAC, LTV, etc.).
  • Experience with data visualisation tools (Looker Studio, Power BI, or Tableau).
  • Strong understanding of the digital advertising ecosystem (Programmatic, Social, Search).
  • Exposure to AI-driven analytics tools or demonstrated ability to leverage Generative AI for operational efficiency.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
