Job Overview
Want your line of code to have a significant and measurable positive impact for users, the company's bottom line, and the industry?
Join Salesforce's Release Operations team and define the future of cloud-native release engineering. We deliver a scalable, high-performance cloud computing platform used by millions of people around the world each day. You will work with world-class engineers to build breakthrough CI/CD automation, large-scale infrastructure tooling, and enterprise-grade release pipelines — while keeping our trusted platform stable, secure, and scalable.
This role is uniquely positioned at the intersection of software engineering and DevOps: you will both build the tools and own the operational pipelines that ship Salesforce products across financial services, healthcare, retail, communications, and public sector industries globally.
What You'll Do
Build and ship enterprise-scale release automation and internal tooling that directly powers the delivery lifecycle — from code commit to production deployment — for some of the world's largest companies
Design and implement solutions to complex engineering challenges including high-concurrency CI/CD pipelines, large-scale infrastructure tooling, performance optimization, and transaction workflows
Build and run fault-tolerant, highly distributed CI/CD systems using Jenkins, Spinnaker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native infrastructure
Own work end-to-end — from architecture and implementation through testing, delivery, and on-call operations — with meaningful contributions from day one
Troubleshoot performance, reliability, and scalability issues across distributed systems and cloud-hosted environments
Collaborate with application engineers, SREs, and cross-functional teams through code reviews, pair programming, and architectural syncs
Develop tools and automated solutions in support of hosted services; handle and resolve issues escalated from production environments
Deliver on sprint commitments within a structured, predictable release cadence while maintaining high-quality standards
Champion a culture and work environment that promotes diversity, inclusion, and operational excellence
Grow technical depth through hands-on ownership, cross-functional exposure, and mentorship opportunities
Required Qualifications
0-1(AMTS)/2–5(MTS)/5-10(SMTS) years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or a related discipline
Strong background in Computer Science or a related engineering field; a technical degree is required
Hands-on experience with Linux-based operating systems — administration, debugging, and performance tuning
Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language: Python (preferred), Groovy, Shell, or Java
Experience with CI/CD pipelines — building, maintaining, or extending pipelines in Jenkins or equivalent
Strong source control experience (Git) and understanding of branching strategies and code review workflows
Experience with container technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
Solid understanding of cloud-hosted systems: auto-scaling, monitoring, performance tuning, and disaster recovery
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to dig deep and debug distributed systems
Excellent communication skills — a great listener, collaborator, communicator, and team player
Willingness to be part of a team on-call rotation
Preferred Experience
Experience using and critically reviewing code generated by LLM coding assistants and agentic tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini)
Ability to effectively guide AI tools to achieve desired engineering outcomes
Experience using telemetry and metrics to drive operational excellence
Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet for configuration management
Experience with Spinnaker or similar deployment automation
AWS or GCP experience: EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, networking fundamentals
Salesforce platform and packaging experience (managed packages, namespace concepts)
Exposure to Mobile CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with version control system administration (GitHub Enterprise, Bitbucket)
