Director, Software Engineering – Data 360 & Agent Analytics Platform Services

About the Team

Data Platform Services (DPS) is the engineering backbone of Salesforce’s internal data ecosystem. We operate the Enterprise Data Platform—connecting Data 360 (Data Cloud), Snowflake, Tableau, and MuleSoft—to enable teams to build trusted, scalable data products. As Customer Zero, we validate platform capabilities at scale and ensure they meet enterprise needs.

About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead key areas within the Data 360 (Data Cloud) and Agent Analytics  platform portfolios. This is a hands-on engineering leadership role focused on execution, platform maturity, and operational excellence.
You will be responsible for driving engineering rigor across the platform, improving automation, reliability, and scalability, and ensuring that our internal data platform is production-ready, secure, and compliant. You will partner closely with product and business teams to deliver capabilities that support critical enterprise use cases.

Key Responsibilities

🔷 Platform Engineering & DevOps Maturity
Drive adoption of CI/CD and automation to reduce manual deployments and improve release velocity
Implement test automation strategies, including regression testing, data quality monitoring, and performance validation
Promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to ensure consistent, reproducible environments
Embed governance and compliance checks into engineering workflows

🔷 Data 360 Platform Execution (Customer Zero)
Lead engineering efforts to implement and operationalize Data 360 capabilities at enterprise scale
Partner with product teams to validate features and provide structured feedback based on real-world usage
Support architecture alignment for availability, scalability, and reliability requirements
Contribute to continuous improvement of platform capabilities through feedback loops and testing

🔷 Visualization Platform Enablement
Drive engineering execution for Tableau and Unified Analytics capabilities
Ensure alignment of semantic layers and metric definitions across platforms
Improve performance, reliability, and cost optimization of analytics workloads
Partner with operations teams to meet service level objectives (SLOs)

🔷 Operational Excellence & Security
Ensure platform reliability through monitoring, incident response, and observability practices
Support operationalization of Tier 1 mission-critical workloads
Enforce security best practices, including access controls and data protection
Ensure compliance with SOX and enterprise governance standards

What We’re Looking For

Engineering Leadership: 10–15 years of experience leading engineering teams, with focus on platform engineering and DevOps
Data Platform Expertise: Experience with modern data platforms and architectures, including cloud data ecosystems
Execution Focus: Strong track record of delivering scalable, reliable systems in production
Collaboration: Ability to partner across engineering, product, and business teams
Operational Mindset: Experience improving reliability, automation, and engineering efficiency

Why It Matters
This role is critical to ensuring that Salesforce’s data platform operates with the scale, reliability, and governance required for enterprise use.
