The Data Reporting Analyst is responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency, and analytical value of trading and financial data used by the Controlling and Accounting functions. The role supports Trading Controllers and business stakeholders through the development of robust reporting solutions, reconciliation analysis, dashboard creation, and data governance activities.
Acting as a key link between Controlling, Accounting, Risk, Trade Support, and IT teams, the incumbent ensures that business data is accurately mapped, validated, and transformed into actionable insights that support financial performance monitoring and decision-making. The role contributes to continuous improvement initiatives through the automation of reporting processes, enhancement of data quality controls, and implementation of analytical tools that improve the visibility of desk profitability, balance sheet positions, and cash flow performance.
The successful candidate combines strong financial acumen with advanced analytical and reporting capabilities, enabling the organization to move from historical reporting toward forward-looking analysis and enhanced business intelligence.
Main Responsibilities
Data Accuracy & Mapping
Collaborate with the Trading Data Reporting Analyst to verify and maintain accurate mappings.
Ensure correct data classification and structure to support precise analysis.
Report Generation & Dashboard Development
Create detailed reports using data from various sources to provide stakeholders with key insights into performance metrics.
Develop interactive dashboards to detect and correct data discrepancies, particularly in:
Desk performance and analytical dimensions view
Desk balance sheet view
Desk cash flow (CF) view
Data Analysis & Reporting
Conduct in-depth analysis of trading data to support decision-making and identify potential improvements.
Provide regular reports on trading data accuracy and mapping, including:
Daily PnL estimation – ensure accuracy and highlight significant movements.
Monthly and year-to-date (MtD & YTD) trading reconciliation – review and explain variations by nature, cost structure, cut-off points, trends, volumes, and counterparties.
Process Documentation & Improvement
Document existing workflows to enhance process visibility and identify optimization opportunities.
Recommend and implement process improvements to streamline data reporting.
Ad-hoc Tasks & Support
Assist with various ad-hoc requests aligned with Trading Controller (TC) goals, targets, and performance initiatives.
Provide replacement for another team member in case of temporary absence (incl. vacation, sickness, business trip, etc.).
Profile
Financial reporting, controlling, management accounting, or business analytics.
Data analysis and reporting within commodities trading, financial services, banking, energy, or related industries.
Proven experience reconciling and analyzing P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow information.
Experience working with large datasets from multiple source systems and ensuring data integrity and consistency.
Strong understanding of reporting processes, financial controls, and performance measurement methodologies.
