Our Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for a Creative Director, Video to lead the execution of Marcom video campaigns and brand video content creation at scale! The Creative Director, Video will bring an outstanding aesthetic sense and a wealth of experience in directing narrative marketing content. The ideal candidate should have deep knowledge and practical experience translating strategic and creative briefs into production projects. This role does not coordinate concept development; the role guides our Studio Content Directors and Art Directors in transforming creative concepts and storyboards from our Brand Creative partners into shooting boards, set designs and pre-visualizations that bring final concepts to life and secure approval. The ideal candidate has worked across lifestyle and culture - spanning entertainment, pet, fashion, beauty, health, food, travel, tech and auto. Given the high volume, project variety, and fast pace of our business, you demonstrate excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. This role will report into the Director, Studio Production in Plantation, FL.
What You'll Do:
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day creative work of our Studio Content Directors and Art Directors, including assigning projects, managing team bandwidth, and driving process improvements
  • Lead all aspects of the video creative team and advise on set designs, scripts, casting, styling, art direction, and crew recommendations - ensuring accurate creative scopes are set and that our Studio work meets the creative brief
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork throughout the department and model this among Studio leaders
  • Coach and mentor video creative talent; set clear goals that align with broader marketing priorities, track progress, and guide professional development
  • Establish guidelines and standards for creative presentations, completing creative tasks, and collaborating with Studio partners, brand partners, senior leaders and collaborators
  • Coordinate multiple projects through all stages of development, from concept through to production, post and final delivery
  • Partner with Brand Creative partners, Marketing Team Members and Studio leadership in supporting Chewy's creative and strategic goals
  • Stay abreast of content and creative technology trends in the entertainment, video production and motion graphic communities, introducing new tools, processes, and techniques that elevate our creative output
  • Develop clear, differentiated, high-standards and a scalable vision for Video Creative within Chewy Studios
  • Contribute to Chewy Studios creative reviews and help set and establish creative goals and measurement practices with internal partners
  • Roll up your sleeves and contribute directly when needed to ensure creative excellence

What You'll Need:
  • 8+ years of experience leading creative/video initiatives in an agency or brand setting, with 3+ years leading teams crafting on-brand video at an agency, production company or internal marketing studio
  • Proven experience as a marketing video director or commercial director is required - receiving scripts/storyboards and translating those into shooting boards, treatments, set direction, casting and music direction and working with studio departments to implement the vision
  • Demonstrated success as a people leader capable of articulating creative expectations to Team Members, to understand the day-to-day work and obstacles facing your team, supporting team growth, and encouraging a shared sense of purpose
  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling and crafting engaging videos for brands including live action and animation projects
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to guide work on multiple campaigns simultaneously; outstanding time management skills to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Proven ability to translate business goals into creative strategies and deliverables
  • Outstanding presentation skills - a requirement for both internal and external creative presentations
  • Proven omni-channel knowledge: digital/social/traditional media/content/products and services for partnerships and direct-to-consumer; the ability to guide work developed for specific media placement
  • Strong understanding of business needs and how they apply to marketing strategy, objectives and creative deliverables
  • A robust portfolio showcasing directorial and video work across various platforms (television, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok) and formats (from documentary to short-form storytelling to visual mood lookbooks, e-commerce, etc.) is required. Along with your resume and cover letter, please include links with your application
  • A genuine interest in Chewy's mission, our customers, and the e-commerce space
  • An ad school or liberal arts (4 year) degree is preferred
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other appropriate tools of the trade; experience and understanding of post-production, CGI/VFX, motion graphics and editing software
  • Position may require 10% travel and flexibility in work hours and schedules based on production needs
