The Lowe's Legal Department serves as an innovative, proactive, and strategic business partner focused on accelerating profitable growth while protecting the Lowe's brand.
The Corporate Counsel - Product & Technology serves as embedded strategic counsel to Lowe's technology organization and advises on a broad range of legal, operational, and governance matters impacting strategic technology initiatives and digital transformation efforts across the enterprise, including in areas such as AI, Privacy, Digital Governance and Compliance, Tech Transactions, and Innovation.
This role partners closely with technology, product, engineering, architecture, and cross-functional teams to proactively identify legal and operational risks, operationalize legal requirements, and support scalable approaches that enable the business to execute with speed and confidence.
The Corporate Counsel is expected to provide practical, business-focused legal guidance, build trusted relationships with stakeholders, and translate complex legal and regulatory concepts into actionable operational and technical guidance that teams can execute consistently and at scale.
This role reports to the Associate General Counsel - Product & Technology.
What You Will Do
- Act as embedded product counsel for Lowe's technology products, platforms, and digital experiences, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle - from ideation and design through development, deployment, enhancement, and retirement - to identify risks early, enable compliant product design, and support scalable governance and business objectives.
- Serve as embedded legal counsel supporting strategic technology initiatives and enterprise technology teams across Lowe's organization.
- Advise internal stakeholders on legal and operational risks associated with product development, technology implementation, digital experiences, infrastructure initiatives, emerging technologies, and enterprise transformation efforts.
- Partner with technology and product teams to operationalize legal and regulatory requirements into practical business and technical guidance.
- Participate in strategic planning discussions, roadmap reviews, prioritization meetings, and cross-functional initiatives to proactively identify risks and support scalable solutions.
- Help develop scalable governance frameworks, operational standards, and legal requirements that support responsible innovation and enterprise objectives.
- Counsel stakeholders on issues relating to digital experiences, consent and disclosure design, accessibility considerations, consumer-facing technologies, infrastructure and cloud initiatives, software commercialization, and other technology-related matters as needed.
- Apply strong business judgment and operational pragmatism to identify key legal risks, recommend practical mitigation strategies, and enable efficient decision-making.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts across Legal, Compliance, Security, Privacy, Human Resources, and other functions to support enterprise initiatives and issue resolution.
- Support select commercial and technology transaction matters, including advising on legal risks and supporting business enablement objectives where appropriate.
- Build trusted relationships with technology leadership and cross-functional stakeholders by delivering responsive, practical, and solutions-oriented legal guidance.
- Lead or support trainings, guidance materials, and operational resources that improve scalability and promote consistent implementation of legal requirements.
- Handle matters independently while appropriately escalating high-risk, novel, or strategically sensitive issues.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
- Other Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA accredited school or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
- Experience or subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas: AI legal , governance, or compliance support, Privacy, Technology Product Counseling, Technology Transactions, eCommerce, or Intellectual Property associated with digital products.
- 4+ years practicing law in a law firm or in-house legal department
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as in-house counsel in a retail, digital, or technology company
- Experience supporting technology, product, engineering, digital, or enterprise transformation initiatives.
- Ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical operational and technical guidance.
- Strong business judgment and ability to provide pragmatic, risk-based advice in ambiguous and fast-moving environments.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts and communicate concisely.
- Curiosity and interest in emerging technologies, evolving business models, and operational processes.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and focus on enterprise impact and strategic business objectives.
- Experience supporting governance initiatives, scalable frameworks, operational processes, or technology enablement efforts preferred and advising cross-functional stakeholders in fast-paced and evolving business environments.
- Familiarity with technology development processes, digital products, infrastructure/cloud concepts, or operational technology environments preferred.
