Job Summary
The Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for the implementation and management of the plant’s CI initiative.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Establishes and builds the plant’s Continuous Improvement Team
- Manages the activities of the plant’s Continuous Improvement
- Evaluates operations throughout the plant to identify areas of waste and opportunities for improvement
- Facilitates VSM and Kaizen activities
- Develops, prioritizes, and implements solutions to reduce waste and improve performance
- Documents improvements and develops standard work instructions
- Teachers, coaches, and mentors all levels of employees in Continuous Improvement and manufacturing principles
- Trains employees to identify and eliminate waste
- Develops and manages programs to foster employee involvement to promote a Continuous Improvement culture
- Attends seminars, lectures, and training classes on Continuous Improvement and shares gained knowledge with plant staff
- Staff develops and coaches the production management team, evaluates performance, and initiates corrective action as required
- Prepares regular and special reports as required
- Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline, or equivalent experience is required
- Minimum three to five years of experience in a lean manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in the use of MS Excel/spreadsheets is required
- Working knowledge of 5s, Kanban, standardized workflow, value stream mapping, Kaizen, and visual environment/factory
- Preferred experience and knowledge of UFP’s organization and product lines
