Stanley Black and Decker is seeking a highly motivated, creative manufacturing problem solver.  Continuous improvement is ingrained in the culture at SB&D and this role will help us accelerate the transformation of our facility’s value streams to deliver best-in-class tools to our customers at a best-in-class fill rate.  Ideal candidates will roll up their sleeves from Day One, spreading new ideas and driving results.

The Job

Manage facility-wide Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) Programs to optimize business to best serve our customers, including but not limited to:

  • Prepare for and facilitate events and projects.
  • Train operators and engage them in Lean concepts.
  • Promote and spread a Lean culture across all levels of the organization daily.
  • Develop and maintain best practices with a strong focus on standard work, visual management, and TIER board reporting.
  • Identify, rationalize, plan, and document cost reduction projects (including inventory, direct/indirect labor, cost per tool, etc.).
  • Lead, track, and update productivity projects using the standard reporting system (Protrak).
  • Collect, analyze, summarize, and present process data (OEE) to the management team.
  • Optimize facility layout using Lean cell design and line balancing techniques.
  • Verify and review Routings and BOMs in an ERP system.
  • Plan, justify, and implement capital budget projects that contribute to plant goals and objectives.
  • Troubleshoot shop floor issues using Lean problem-solving techniques and implement sustainable corrective actions

The Person

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of implementing lean manufacturing tools and techniques that deliver significant business results.
  • Strong, direct project management experience in a manufacturing operations setting.
  • Background in manufacturing and assembly operations highly preferred.
  • Exposure to Industry 4.0 concepts and technologies is preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD).
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven focus.
  • Experience with SAP or a similar ERP system is preferred.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills; able to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership skills; able to drive projects involving multiple departments and personalities.
