As a Consultant I, Legal Invoice Review, you will be responsible for the prompt, accurate, and efficient auditing of electronically submitted legal fee and expense invoices from law firms and vendors. You will ensure compliance with client billing guidelines, make necessary adjustments to invoice line items, and document the rationale for each adjustment. This role requires strong analytical skills, legal knowledge, and attention to detail.
You will report to the Manager, Consulting and work a hybrid work schedule (two days in office, three days from home).
Responsibilities:
Review legal invoice entries efficiently and accurately.
Receive invoice assignments or self-assign from the intake queue.
Verify compliance with client billing guidelines.
Ensure correct application of UTBMS task, activity, and expense codes.
Document reasons for invoice adjustments, citing specific guideline violations.
Route audited invoices through the appropriate review chain.
Collaborate with Legal Invoice Analysts and Quality Assurance Analysts.
Apply sound judgment in audit decisions and maintain high-quality standards.
Maintain organized workflows to meet daily and periodic review targets.
Utilize electronic billing and auditing software effectively.
Communicate professionally and clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in a legal-related discipline or equivalent work experience
Paralegal certification preferred
Experience:
1+ years in legal services or legal invoice auditing
Experience with legal billing processes
Understanding of federal and/or state rules of civil procedure
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of legal terminology and claims processes
Multijurisdictional exposure preferred
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to adapt and learn new technologies and systems
