Virtus Investment Partners is a publicly traded asset management firm that provides investment management and related services to individuals, financial advisors, institutions, and retirement plan sponsors. Position Summary

Virtus Investment Partners is seeking a Compensation Analyst to join our Human Resources team in Hartford, Connecticut. This undergraduate opportunity is designed for a recent graduate, as well as early-career professionals with approximately one to two years of relevant experience, who are interested in building a long-term career path within Human Resources.

The Compensation Analyst will support the administration and coordination of compensation programs across the organization. Working closely with Human Resources and Business Partners the analyst will assist with market benchmarking, annual compensation processes, HR reporting, documentation, and special projects that support Virtus' talent and business strategies.

The successful candidate will develop foundational expertise in compensation, HR processes, employee records, confidentiality, and human capital practices while partnering with leaders and teams across the organization. This is an HR compensation role intended for candidates who are motivated to build a career in Human Resources; it is not designed for candidates seeking a data analyst, data science, business intelligence, technology analytics, or systems-focused career path.

Key Responsibilities:

Compensation Program Support

  • Support preparation and review of compensation information for salary reviews, incentive compensation programs, and market benchmarking activities.
  • Assist with gathering, organizing, and validating compensation information from internal systems and external survey providers.
  • Prepare clear HR reporting, presentations, and compensation summaries for Human Resources and business leaders.
  • Assist with compensation reviews to support hiring, promotions, transfers, organizational changes, and workforce planning initiatives.

Market Intelligence & Benchmarking

  • Participate in annual compensation surveys and market pricing initiatives.
  • Research industry compensation trends and competitive labor market data.
  • Assist in maintaining salary structures, compensation ranges, and job architecture documentation.

HR Records & Compensation Administration

  • Maintain compensation-related records and documentation within Workday and other HR platforms.
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of compensation records, documentation, and employee information.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and documentation requests.

Annual Compensation Programs

  • Assist with administration of annual merit, bonus, and incentive planning cycles.
  • Support preparation of leadership reporting materials related to compensation and HR programs.
  • Help develop communication materials and resources associated with compensation programs.

Project Support

  • Participate in compensation, HR operations, and workforce planning projects.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives that strengthen compensation administration and HR service delivery.
  • Support compensation-related summaries, pay reviews, documentation, and HR program administration.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or approximately one to two years of professional experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills for organizing information, maintaining accurate spreadsheets, and supporting compensation documentation; proficiency with PowerPoint and Word expected.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and organizational skills, with comfort reviewing employee and compensation information for accuracy and consistency.
  • Prior internship or professional experience in a business setting.
  • Interest in developing a career within Human Resources, with a focus on compensation, employee rewards, and HR program support.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, initiative, and desire to learn.
  • Collaborative team player with a positive attitude and strong customer-service mindset.

The salary range is $65,000 to $80,000.

The starting salary offer will vary based on the applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity, and alignment with market data. This position is also eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan.
