Scope: In this role, you will be responsible for the setup and operation of CNC machinery, as well as the generation, maintenance, and control of CNC programs for the fabrication of TTM parts, subassemblies, and end products. The ideal candidate will combine machine operating expertise with a collaborative approach to continuous improvement, ensuring manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Machine Setup & Operation

• Perform CNC and ancillary equipment setup, run, and teardown operation procedures to assigned specifications (inclusive of bar feeders, tool setups, collet changes, chuck jaw boring, tool touch-offs, etc.).
• Perform CNC cycle starts and stop procedures accurately and efficiently; perform single-step procedures through CNC programs and Control Turrets.
• Set up and operate manual machining equipment, including Bridgeport milling machines, lathes, drill presses, and surface grinders, to perform secondary operations, fixture creation, or tooling adjustments.
• Accurately locate and verify proper tools and tool inserts; perform tool insert changes at predetermined intervals.
• Perform material loading of equipment including CNCs, chuckers, bar feeders, and ancillary equipment.
• Perform edge breaking and de-burring operations as required.
• Work with process engineering personnel to determine proper feeds and speeds for available tools, considering machine characteristics and material type.

CNC Programming & Design Collaboration

• Conceptualize, define, develop, and debug CNC programs for engineering and production fabrication.
• Review designs of new and existing products to ensure adequate and acceptable CNC programs can be generated cost-effectively and per established standards.
• Assist designers in the development of part designs to ensure manufacturability and determine the feasibility of design concepts.
• Work closely with CNC Operators and Programmers to help generate time-saving CNC programs (Continuous Improvement).
• Perform program loading and verification procedures as required through DNC, USB, interfaces, etc.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

• Perform first-piece inspection of all set-ups to ensure high yield and quality of work performed.
• Accurately read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and production prints.
• Comply with established procedures regarding support documentation and quality assurance operations for all programs written or revised.

Maintenance, Safety & Environment

• Perform daily equipment maintenance inspections per the Production Process, including lubrication, fluid checks/additions, chip handling, and scrap removal.
• Keep Machine Shop Lead and Supervisor informed immediately of all operational malfunctions, breakdowns, equipment failures, or excess scrap.
• Comply with and enforce all safety regulations and Equal Opportunity Policies/requirements.
• Work to develop internal and external customer relationships through collaboration, respect, professionalism, trust, and integrity.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Measurement & Precision: Proven ability to use precision measuring tools (i.e., micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
• Technical Literacy: Strong ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and drawings.
• Software Skills: Ability to access and utilize computers and specific industry software (i.e., Autodesk Fusion 360).
• Core Competencies: Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills to work effectively within a team environment.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Degree or certificate in Machine Trades Education, Mechanical Technology, or equivalent is highly preferred.
• 0–2 Years Relevant Experience.
• Must have Machine Operating experience and related Metal Machines training.

Additional compensation: An annual or quarterly company bonus may apply based on position assignment. Positions hired for alternative shift may be eligible for a shift premium based on the assigned shift and location.
