The Role

The Cloud Virtualization Engineer will be responsible for supporting customer VMware environments. The position will play a key role in the development, growth, and stability of RapidScale's new VMware support offering , specializing in advanced troubleshooting, documentation, and management of core VMware products.
Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Maintain and help develop multiple cloud environments within RapidScale's infrastructure (Compute, Storage, Virtual Network, Hypervisor, Backups, DR, and Monitoring). Facilitate resolution of trouble tickets escalated to the support team when necessary. Execute initiatives to reduce failures, defects, and improve overall performance. Document procedures, and processes for use by other cloud operators. Provide support for RapidScale's customer base. Works closely with Architects, Security and Compliance to patch, address and mitigate vulnerabilities, and compliance requirements. Implement Architecture designs and updates. Ensure proper monitoring and alerting configuration of infrastructure components.
Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 2 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years' experience; or 6 years' experience in a related field
  • Experience with VMware, vSphere (ESXi, vCenter)
  • A proven level of expertise & competence with server virtualization technologies
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of competency with managing technical escalations in a high-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Willingness to work night or weekends as needed and on a 24x7 on-call rotation schedule
  • Apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving problems that are complex in scope, requiring in-depth evaluation as well as the ability to identify problems in advance, and propose solutions
  • Require limited supervision and direction; drive results, and set priorities independently
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to enhance and expand skillsets to meet organization and new technology demands.

  • vCloud Director
  • NSX (both)
  • vSAN
  • Basic Scripting & Automation (PowerShell/PowerCLI)
  • Basic to Intermediate networking (VLAN, LACP, etc)
  • Experience with Monitoring Systems and alerting configuration
  • Hands-on experience in vSphere HA, vCenter, ESXi, DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion, Update Manager, vSAN, SRM
  • Hands-on experience in Log analysis, PowerCLI,
  • Experience in handling Sev-1 incidents and handling customer on call
  • RCA preparation and meeting SLA for RCA submission
  • VMware SDDC Manager, VMware vSphere (vCenter Server & ESXi hosts), VMware vSphere Replication, VMware Tanzu for vSphere, VMware NSX or VMware NSX-T for Datacenter, VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle, VMware Aria Operations, VMware Aria Automation, VMware Aria Operations, VMware Aria Operations for Networks, VMware Workspace One, Zerto, Azure AVD

USD 85,500.00 - 128,300.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $85,500.00 - $128,300.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
