We are currently looking for an experienced Chief Accountant to support our Finance Team in Pruszcz Gdański.
In this role you will take full ownership of end-to-end accounting for foreign legal entities, acting as the main accounting contact within a small SSC environment.
What you will do:
 
  • Take full ownership of end-to-end accounting for foreign legal entities, acting as the main accounting contact within a small SSC environment
  • Perform and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Prepare local statutory financial statements and support year-end audits for foreign entities
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) teams, supporting daily operations, resolving issues, and ensuring data quality
  • Cooperate with the Controlling team on management reporting, cost analysis, variances, and budgeting inputs
  • Prepare and review Group reporting packages in line with Group policies and reporting timelines
  • Ensure accuracy of balance sheet and P&L, including regular account reconciliations and variance explanations
  • Monitor compliance with local accounting and tax requirements (VAT, CIT, withholdings), supported by external advisors if required
  • Prepare tax filings (VAT, CIT, other mandatory reports)
  • Handle intercompany transactions and consolidation between subsidiaries
  • Act as a key liaison with external auditors, tax consultants, and local authorities
  • Participate actively in process improvements, standardization, and automation initiatives suitable for a small SSC setup
  • Support the development of simple, effective internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Contribute operationally while also providing guidance and knowledge sharing within the SSC team

What we are looking for:
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Experience in accounting, including responsibility for foreign legal entities
  • Proven hands on experience in end to end accounting (GL, AP, AR, month end close)
  • Practical knowledge of Group reporting and cooperation with a parent company (IFRS exposure preferred)
  • Experience working closely with AP, AR, and Controlling teams, ideally in an SSC or lean finance structure
  • Very good understanding of month end close processes, accruals, provisions, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership in a small team environment
  • Experience in cooperating with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Solid knowledge of local accounting and tax regulations for international entities (VAT, CIT basics)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a problem-solving mindset
  • Fluent in English and Polish, both written and spoken. German would be an asset
  • Advanced user of ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Infor LN, Dynamics, or similar) and MS Excel (e.g. pivot tables)
  • Proactive, flexible, and comfortable working in a less structured, fast-changing SSC setup
