  • Perform and/or direct and mentor defect correction while maintaining reporting solution’s integrity.
  • Evaluate outcomes, review findings, and recommend strategies that improve long term quality and performance.

Lead, plan, and manage significant departmental, division, or enterprise projects in support of project objectives and deadlines.

  • Provide project management services, providing budget and resource allocation and forecasting, financial tracking of resources, hours, and expenditures for teams, department, or projects, as needed.
  • Implement systems development methodologies and enforce compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in the coordination of user efforts required for project implementation.
  • Communicate issues and progress to management and customers as needed.  Provide management reporting of status and relevant issues related to projects, personnel, etc.
  • Coordinate work activities across Data Analytics, Data Services, information technology departments, business, functional areas, and project teams.
  • Function as the lead BI and data modeler on highly complex or sensitive development projects for the department, division, or enterprise.
  • Work closely with the internal and external business clients to develop technology solutions that provide Assurant a competitive advantage.

Direct efforts to ensure supported BI environments, Reports, Dashboards and Data Models are stable and highly available, cost efficient, and at an appropriate level of technical maturity.  Provide effective, flexible, and secure BI solutions that support business strategy and operations.

  • Ensure all supported BI environments, Reports, Dashboards and Data Models are working accurately and as expected, that process and technology documentation is complete and accurate, and that appropriate disaster recovery procedures are developed and maintained for relevance.
  • Manage departmental resources and systems to ensure Service Level Agreements are met or exceeded. Ensure that a proper control structure and escalation path is in place and is being followed and monitored.
  • Enforce governance and provide stewardship for supported environments, reports, Dashboards, and data models.
  • Perform pro-active and as requested audits or reviews. Communicate issues and progress to management and customers as needed.
  • Provide rapid corrective response and action to resolve disruptive incidents.
  • Ensure the communication of incident status to appropriate management, staff, and user personnel.
  • Ensure the documentation of incident occurrence and resolution in the appropriate repositories.
  • Identify and recommend strategies to minimize risk(s) of incident recurrence.
  • Consult, mentor, and direct other staff personnel as required for effective incident resolution.
  • Oversee the resolution of complex technical development and support issues.
  • Coordinate the application of program enhancements (resolutions) with the applications and technical staffs and follow through to ensure customer satisfaction and SLA compliance.
  • Collaborate with other IT departments/disciplines to ensure that changes to the BI, ETL and warehouse environments are instituted at an appropriate level of quality, cost, and architectural consistency.

Collect requirements from stakeholders and leverage knowledge of the key components and relationships of Assurant products, distribution channels, customer base, systems, and data into solution designs for effective reporting.

  • Foster and sustain open communication with business users and stakeholders.
  • Provide training to stakeholder.
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge of the business operations and strategic imperatives of Assurant through the periodic review of business goals and operational and strategic plans.
  • Assist business customers by advising them on defining systems requirements.
  • Work closely with business units to provide direction in addressing business systems challenges and new opportunities.
  • Assist in requirements analysis and solution design for approved projects and change requests of the highest complexity.
  • Prepare and contribute toward the preparation of project and product vision documentation.

Implement and optimize visualization, dashboarding, reporting, process and analytical solution through standardization and automation by leveraging tools and proven methodology while using storytelling to drive business thinking.

  • Proactively identify and design optimization opportunities to add value through holistic & advanced business insights and leverage Data Analytic capabilities and products efficiently with appropriate controls.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Business, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in the fields of insurance, analytics, and reporting.
  • Experienced in visualization techniques, Profound in visual story telling with data, designing highly automated descriptive analytics/reporting solutions, building, integrating, and managing databases, creating data models, especially within the PowerBI stack, understanding of business needs and processes.
  • Broad in PowerBI, Excel, SSRS and Tableau, Profound in SharePoint, PowerApps, MSFlow, SQL and/or SAS
  • Profound in effective and compelling communication to technical and non-technical departments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Business, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the fields of insurance, analytics, and reporting
  • Experienced in analyzing data and make strong recommendations based on findings, prioritizing tasks with shifting deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously and working independently with little guidance while still meeting objectives
