The Bookkeeper is responsible for computing, recording and verifying financial transactions in the accounting systems and records. In addition, this role is responsible for reconciling multiple bank and investment account statements while maintaining Trust funds files and records.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile multiple bank and investment account statements.
- Review and confirm accounts payable invoices, enter into the accounting system and prepare payment letters for trustee signature.
- Coordinate payment activities with administrative support, account managers, banks, trustees and vendors.
- Process refunds, voids, canceled and stop payments in coordination with the claims and pension teams and the related banks.
- Create Fund financials, including income statements, balance sheets and related supporting schedules.
- Maintain Trust fund files and records.
Teamwork
- Work cooperatively and professionally with other team members, account managers, administrative support, management and auditors
- Actively participate in team meetings and training activities
- Perform additional responsibilities and projects as periodically assigned
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
Skills/Abilities:
- Prior experience in accounting, bookkeeping and account reconciliations
- Strong mathematical skills required
- Minimum 40 WPM and 7,000 KPH proficiency
- Solid expertise in MS Excel & MS Word (i.e. pivot tables and lookup functions)
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external customers, verbally and in writing
- Strong dedication to follow-through on all tasks and assignments
- Ability to read and comprehend simple to moderately complex instructions and correspondence
- Ability to work independently, organize, set priorities, and complete multiple projects/tasks within established deadlines
- Ability to sit for long periods of time operating a computer
