The AVP – GL Claims Manager, reporting directly to SVP – Claims, is a full-time remote role responsible for managing and overseeing General Liability claims activities across assigned programs. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising claims handling workflows, reviewing complex and high-severity claims, providing guidance on coverage, liability, and damages evaluation, and ensuring consistent application of claims best practices. This role will collaborate closely with underwriting, legal, and distribution teams to support profitable program performance and maintain strong relationships with external partners, third-party administrators, and carriers. The AVP – GL Claims Manager will monitor key metrics, conduct file audits, recommend process improvements, and contribute to strategy development for emerging exposures and market trends. The position requires proactive leadership, clear communication, and effective decision-making in a remote environment.Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. 1. Oversight, supervision and Management of all aspects of moderate to significant complexity claims from coverage through resolution.
2. Adhere to company’s Litigation Management guidelines.
3. Oversee and manage all claim documentation by GL Claims Team
4. Oversight and Management of Timely Reserve setting process
5. Manage, review, and approve all expenses incurred on a claim.
6. Oversee and Manage all Risk Transfer opportunities as warranted
7. Timely, professionally, and accurately report claims to reinsurers as required by guidelines.
8. Anticipate and meet all customer needs (both internal and external).
9. Present claims to senior leadership team and peer groups.
10. Coordination of training, mentoring and development of employees in the department.
11. Occasional travel to mediations, trials or industry events as needed
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree with a concentration in business or equivalent work experience. JD applicants welcome but not required
2. 10-15 years of Staff Management and Claims handling experience, with commercial E&S knowledge
3. Strong claims expertise, including Claims Management and Claims Handling experience in General Liability or related commercial lines.
4. Experience working with Underwriting teams to align claims strategies with program objectives and risk appetite.
5. Proven leadership capabilities, including mentoring and supervising claims professionals and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
6. Experience with litigation management, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution is beneficial.
7. Ability to critically review a claim file for relevant information, accurately access the information and make necessary recommendations
8. Ability to make independent decisions with minimal or no supervision
9. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple complex files and projects in a remote setting.
10. Extensive knowledge of the insurance industry and E&S Markets
