Space is a warfighting domain. True Anomaly seeks those with the talent and ambition to build the technology that secures it.
OUR MISSION
True Anomaly delivers decisive capabilities for space superiority. We build autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors — enabling the U.S. and its Allies to secure the space environment and counter threats from the ultimate high ground.
OUR VALUES
- Be the offset. We create asymmetric advantages with creativity and ingenuity.
- What would it take? We challenge assumptions to deliver ambitious results.
- It’s the people. Our team is our competitive advantage and we are better together.
YOUR MISSION
We are seeking a talented and motivated Avionics Test Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead and support the integration and verification of advanced avionics systems, ensuring all subsystems perform reliably together in demanding aerospace environments. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting integration and system-level tests, collaborating closely with design, hardware, and software teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the integration, bring-up, and testing of avionics hardware and subsystems throughout the space vehicle production lifecycle.
- Lead the integration, verification, and testing of hardware and software components in multiple testbeds, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and various ground support systems.
- Execute requirements verification, validation, and acceptance testing on avionics components and integrated units.
- Collaborate with software engineering to integrate, troubleshoot, and verify ground software, flight software, and test software across all test platforms.
- Develop and automate activities on various flight and ground test platforms; analyze results and drive iterative improvements for greater efficiency.
- Ensure test processes and results are well-documented, organized, and compliant with aerospace quality standards, with clear traceability to avionics requirements.
- Interface with various engineering departments to root-cause issues and perform integration troubleshooting across both hardware and software domains.
- Participate in key technical reviews (design, test readiness, etc.) to support flight and test readiness of avionics systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- Years of experience in avionics system integration and/or test engineering for aerospace applications (spaceflight, satellites, spacecraft, or similar) in line with engineering level.
- Practical experience with integration and verification of avionics subsystems, such as power systems, communications (CAN, UART, RS-422, Ethernet), guidance/navigation (GPS/IMUs), and RF systems.
- Hands-on experience with electrical and system-level test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, power analyzers, etc.).
- Proficient in developing test plans, requirements tracing, test scripts (Python, MATLAB, or similar), and test automation tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and embedded systems.
- Solid understanding of space-relevant avionics qualification and acceptance standards (e.g., NASA-STD-8739.4, ECSS, MIL-STD-1540, MIL-STD-883, NASA GEVS, or similar).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with space vehicle avionics or satellite bus integration & test processes.
- Knowledge of system safety, fault management, and redundancy in avionics architectures.
- Experience with environmental and EMI/EMC testing.
- Familiarity with configuration management, requirements management, and issue tracking tools.
- Previous work with mission operations or on-orbit test and diagnosis is a plus.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Base Salary:
- Avionics Test Engineer 2: $100,000-$120,000
- Avionics Test Engineer 3: $125,000-$155,000
- Senior AvionicsTest Engineer: $140,000-$200,000
