In this role, the student will support day-to-day Supply Management Procurement Excellence activities. This includes assisting with sourcing-related tasks, supporting contract and documentation processes, helping manage supplier interactions, and contributing to process improvements. The role provides exposure to core Supply Management practices and opportunities to build analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
The Irving Oil Supply Management team is responsible for sourcing goods and services across all areas of operations. Comprising approximately 100 professionals based in Saint John (Home Office and Refinery) and Ireland, the team partners closely with key suppliers to deliver optimal value while proactively managing commercial and operational risks. In addition to strategic sourcing and supplier management, the team conducts audits and process reviews, provides data analytics and spend trending insights, performs category analysis to support informed procurement decisions, and identifies and mitigates supply chain risks to ensure business continuity and operational resilience.
Responsibilities:
Support sourcing activities, including conducting market research and basic data analysis
Request and evaluate supplier quotations to support decision-making
Help resolve invoice discrepancies and identify opportunities to improve processes
Maintain and update data, records, and documentation within SharePoint lists and libraries to support business operations, reporting requirements, and compliance standards
Maintain supplier compliance data and support follow-up activities to ensure records remain accurate, complete, and up to date
Support data management and reporting activities by ensuring the integrity and accuracy of procurement and supplier information
Support ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives as needed
Your Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps is an asset
Analytical mindset, with experience or interest in data analysis
Your Experience:
Currently enrolled in Business Administration with a strong interest in Supply Management and Logistics
Must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and be returning to school

Compensation – The weekly salary for this role will be based on your current work term. 1st - $795, 2nd - $875, 3rd and additional terms - $960
