Role Overview:
The Sales Representative I is a key contributor within the New York Life Group Benefit Solutions distribution organization. This role is responsible for driving new business growth through broker and consultant partnerships while supporting the persistency and profitability of existing clients. The Sales Rep I sells group insurance solutions to middle market employers and collaborates closely with internal partners to deliver a strong client and broker experience.
What You'll Do:
• Develop and manage productive relationships with brokers and consultants to generate new business opportunities.
• Sell group insurance products, including Life, Accident, Disability (STD & LTD), Absence Management solutions and Voluntary Benefits, to middle market clients (generally 50-5,000 lives).
• Partner with internal field and home office teams to support finalist meetings, RFP responses, and client onboarding.
• Support the retention and growth of in-force clients through upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
• Maintain accurate sales, call, and activity tracking in required systems (e.g., quotes, pipeline, and call activity).
• Attend and participate in industry and broker events to expand market knowledge and relationships.
• Participate in required new hire training, ongoing sales development, and upskilling programs.
• Contribute to special projects and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance sales effectiveness and processes.

What You'll Bring:
• Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience.
• 3-5+ years of sales or related experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with group insurance products (Life, Disability, Leave/Absence) preferred.
• Life & Health Insurance license preferred (or ability to obtain) within 6 months of hire.
• Strong presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to effectively use sales technology and virtual presentation tools.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel domestically, including overnight travel (up to ~60%).

Pay Transparency
Salary range: $47,500 + incentives
Overtime eligible: Exempt

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
