What You’ll Be Doing:
Evolent partners with health plans and providers to deliver better outcomes for people with complex health conditions. We are seeking an experienced Associate Director, Application Engineering to lead a Scrum team in Pune, India, driving delivery of product and engineering initiatives that support scalable, reliable, and high-quality technology solutions. This role combines people leadership, technical depth, and cross-functional collaboration to help teams deliver meaningful business impact.
In this role, you will:
Lead engineering delivery and team performance
- Lead and manage a Scrum team of software engineers and QA professionals, including manual and automation testing resources
- Own end-to-end delivery of product initiatives in close partnership with Product Management and cross-functional stakeholders
- Drive predictable, high-quality execution across sprints and releases
- Foster accountability, ownership, and a culture of continuous improvement within the team
Provide people leadership and operational oversight
- Oversee day-to-day software development activities and ensure alignment to delivery commitments
- Conduct performance reviews and support career growth and development for team members
- Coach and mentor team members across technical, functional, and leadership dimensions
- Promote strong engineering discipline, delivery rigor, and adoption of best practices
Drive technical leadership and solution quality
- Provide technical leadership in the design, development, testing, and deployment of enterprise applications
- Analyze complex problems and recommend scalable, resilient, and high-performing solutions
- Identify opportunities to modernize architecture, improve maintainability, and challenge the status quo where appropriate
Partner across product and business teams
- Partner with Product Owners and key stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
- Support backlog refinement, prioritization, sprint planning, and delivery planning activities
- Provide solution input, effort estimates, and engineering guidance throughout the development lifecycle
Advance agile execution and delivery excellence
- Lead Scrum ceremonies, remove delivery impediments, and help the team maintain focus on outcomes
- Continuously improve Agile ways of working to increase team effectiveness and delivery predictability
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with progressive leadership responsibility
- Experience leading Scrum teams and managing software delivery in Agile environments
- Strong expertise in Microsoft .NET, C#, ASP.NET MVC/Web API, and SQL Server
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Azure technologies such as Functions, Service Bus, Queues, Monitor, ACS etc.
Preferred:
- Experience in healthcare technology or a related regulated industry
- Experience with microservices, distributed systems, and modern application architecture patterns

The expected base salary/wage range for this position is $.
