Assistant Landscaping Manager 
The Assistant Manager Landscaping supports the overall management and maintenance of the resort’s extensive tropical landscapes, gardens, and outdoor spaces. 
This role ensures that all areas reflect the natural beauty and elegance expected of The Ritz-Carlton brand.
This position requires expertise in tropical landscape management, horticulture, fertilization, pest control, and project coordination, along with strong leadership skills. 
The Assistant Manager also oversees the maintenance, operation, and inventory of all landscaping equipment and machinery, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency across all operations.

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Management, or related field preferred.
Certifications in Landscaping, Pest Control, or Fertilizer Application are advantageous.
Equipment operation or maintenance certifications are an asset.

Experience:
Minimum 5 years in tropical landscaping or grounds management.
At least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant managerial role.
Experience managing large resort, golf course, or luxury property landscapes.
Strong technical knowledge of tropical flora, irrigation, and pest management.
Skills:

Exceptional leadership and organizational abilities.
Strong project management and cost control skills.
In-depth horticultural knowledge and hands-on equipment experience.
Excellent communication and commitment to brand standards.
Key Responsibilities

Operational & Supervisory Duties
Assist in planning, supervising, and evaluating landscaping operations to meet brand standards.
Lead and motivate the landscaping team in daily tasks including planting, pruning, irrigation, pest control, and clean-up.
Organize work schedules, allocate manpower, and monitor performance.
Collaborate with Engineering, Housekeeping, and Recreation to ensure landscape harmony across guest areas.
Project & Design Management
Support landscape enhancement and renovation projects aligned with tropical design principles.
Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and consultants for specialized installations.
Monitor project budgets, timelines, and materials for cost efficiency.
Evaluate plant performance and recommend upgrades or redesigns.
Horticulture, Fertilization & Pest Management

Develop seasonal fertilization programs for tropical plants, palms, and turf.
Oversee Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs to minimize chemical use.
Diagnose plant health issues and implement treatment plans.
Maintain records of fertilizer and pesticide applications in compliance with regulations.

Irrigation & Sustainability
Supervise irrigation system maintenance and scheduling.
Promote eco-friendly practices including composting and native plant use.
Ensure compliance with environmental protection and safety standards.
Equipment & Asset Management

Oversee maintenance and safe operation of landscaping equipment.
Maintain equipment service schedules and proper storage.
Manage inventory and coordinate procurement with Engineering and Purchasing.
Ensure staff training in equipment safety and PPE protocols.
Administrative & Financial Responsibilities

Assist in preparing and managing the department’s annual operating budget.
Prepare reports on landscape conditions, maintenance schedules, and project progress.
Participate in vendor evaluations and purchasing decisions.
Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Management, or related field preferred.
Certifications in Landscaping, Pest Control, or Fertilizer Application are advantageous.

Responsible for successfully executing all operations in two departments (Front Office and Food and Beverage/Culinary or Engineering/Maintenance and Housekeeping) and managing staff. Strives to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction and maximize the financial performance of the department. Ensures that standards and procedures are being followed. Leads specific team while assisting with meeting or exceeding property goals.

Supporting Safety Standards and Work Procedures

• Implements property emergency plan.

• Provides a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA/MSDS.

• Implements and sustains property accident prevention programs.

• Ensures a viable key control program is in place.

• Follows property specific second effort and recovery plan.


Managing Property Operations and Department Budgets

• Reviews financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity, goal achievement and to determine areas in need of cost reduction and program improvement.

• Assists/teaches the team scheduling (using Scheduling Tool) against guest and hours/occupied room goals.

• Ensures barriers to achieving goals are being discussed and resolved by the team.

• Extends professionalism and courtesy to employees at all times.

• Ensures that the team has the capabilities to meet expectations.

• Ensures that goals are being translated to the team as they relate to guest tracking and productivity.

• Leads by example and demonstrates self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm.


Conducting Human Resources Activities

• Ensures that staffing levels are appropriate to exceed guest expectations.

• Promotes both Guarantee of Fair Treatment and Open Door policies.

• Maintains current licenses and permits as prescribed by local, state and federal agencies.

• Publishes all guest satisfaction results in a timely fashion including all guest satisfaction forms, comment cards and guest letters.

• Solicits feedback for continuous improvement.

• Ensures training plans are in place and being executed.

• Ensures all team members meet or exceed all hospitality requirements.

• Ensures Continuous Improvement Meetings (CIMS) are taking place weekly in each department.

• Creates and nurtures a property environment that emphasizes motivation, empowerment, teamwork, continuous improvement and a passion for providing service.

• Provides support for operations functions as appropriate
