WHOOP’s legal team plays a critical role in enabling the business to move quickly and responsibly in a complex, evolving regulatory environment. We are rigorous but pragmatic, risk-aware rather than risk-averse, calm under pressure, excellent communicators, and deeply committed to being trusted partners to the business.

WHOOP is hiring an Assistant General Counsel, Healthcare to serve as the lead legal advisor supporting the WHOOP Healthcare group. In this role, you will help shape and enable healthcare strategy across operations, product development, clinical and scientific programs, marketing, partnerships, and commercialization. This role is ideal for an experienced healthcare attorney who brings a growth mindset, thrives in ambiguity, brings sound judgment, and can build scalable, compliant healthcare operations within an innovative technology-driven company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor on federal and state healthcare laws and regulations, including corporate practice of medicine, fraud and abuse laws, reimbursement frameworks, and Medicare and Medicaid considerations
  • Support market access initiatives globally
  • Advise on the structure and operation of compliant healthcare models, including corporate governance, Friendly P.C. and management services arrangements, multi-state operations, and telehealth delivery
  • Design and help implement healthcare compliance programs, including risk assessments, training, auditing, remediation, and documentation
  • Support provider licensing, accreditation, enrollment, and reporting obligations, including related to Medicare/Medicaid
  • Manage government inquiries, audits, investigations, and corrective action plans
  • Draft, review, and negotiate healthcare-focused commercial agreements, including MSAs, PSAs, and provider agreements, and advise on corporate governance for complex healthcare entities
  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise the business on emerging healthcare, FDA, digital health, and AI-related regulatory risks and requirements
  • Advise on FDA regulatory matters related to digital health products, medical devices, and wellness products, including the FDA General Wellness Guidance
  • Advise on AI and digital health regulatory issues, including clinical decision support and emerging state and federal frameworks

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 8+ years of legal experience, including meaningful experience in a healthcare practice at a major law firm
  • Deep working knowledge of U.S. healthcare laws, provider regulatory frameworks, and compliance considerations
  • Strong contract drafting, negotiation, and issue-spotting skills, with the ability to deliver clear, actionable guidance to business partners
  • Sound judgment and comfort operating in complex, fast-moving, and evolving regulatory environments
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and navigate new pathways to compliant solutions
  • Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions

Interested in the role but don’t meet every qualification? We encourage you to apply! At WHOOP, we value potential, character, and curiosity as much as experience.
