The Applications Software Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, enhancement, and sustainment of software applications across the NOV Service Equipment product portfolio. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, this role develops customer-facing features, maintains existing applications, supports software testing and releases, and contributes to the continuous improvement of products including LogMaster+, CRFlex, TorqueMaster, and future connected equipment.

This position offers the opportunity to work across modern software technologies, industrial automation, cloud-connected systems, and equipment integration while collaborating with mechanical, controls, and cloud engineering teams. As experience grows, the engineer will assume greater responsibility for product features, software subsystems, and technical ownership, contributing to the evolution of NOV's next generation of connected industrial products.

Responsibilities
  • Implement new product features, enhancements, and user interface improvements under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
  • Support software integration with industrial equipment, PLCs, databases, cloud services, and third-party systems. 
  • Participate in software testing, debugging, validation, and release activities to ensure reliable product performance. 
  • Troubleshoot software issues and assist with product sustainment, customer support, and field-related investigations. 
  • Collaborate with mechanical, controls, cloud, and product engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions. 
  • Contribute to software design discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement of development practices. 
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, test procedures, and software design artifacts.

  • Continuously develop technical knowledge in industrial automation, cloud-connected products, and modern application development.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • 3 -5 years of relevant experience in Industrial Automation, Control Systems, PLC Programming, Industrial Software Development, or a related engineering field.

  • Demonstrated software development experience through coursework, internships, co-op programs, or professional experience.

  • Experience with one or more modern programming languages such as C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, Python, or C++. 

  • Understanding of software development principles, object-oriented programming, and version control (Git). 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues. 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative engineering environment. 

  • Willingness to learn industrial automation, connected products, and modern software development practices.

  • United State travel Visa preferred

  • Demonstrate a strong desire to learn industrial equipment, customer workflows, and connected product technologies. 

  • Deliver high-quality, well-tested software features that improve the functionality and usability of Service Equipment products.

  • Collaborate effectively with mechanical, controls, cloud, and software engineers to develop integrated solutions. 

  • Take ownership of assigned features and tasks, following them through design, implementation, testing, and release. 

  • Apply sound engineering practices, including documentation, version control, testing, and code reviews. 

  • Develop an understanding of Service Equipment products and use that knowledge to contribute to product improvements and customer value

Skills Required
