Job Purpose
Every day Mars Incorporated takes thousands of decisions that are informed by laboratory data. It is essential that Mars Associates have access to laboratory data that is accurate, reliable and timely to ensure consumer and brand protection, provide competitive advantage and enable operational excellence.
The Site Lab Support Scientist’s role is to provide training and support to the Chemistry and microbiology Site Laboratory Associates of their region.
Key Responsibilities
Provides technical training to rapid methods for raw material and in-process controls to site lab coordinators/Associates.
Provides training packages and guidance about how Site lab Associates can train and validate other site lab Associate to testing methods.
Provides support on new equipment selection and configuration.
Provides coaching and support on troubleshooting related to technical issue with the test and instrumentation.
Verify the execution of the verification programs (ring-test).
Help the site to develop a strong action plan based on 5M approach for all non-conform results (Ring-Test, rejections unconfirmed).
Identify priorities based on problem solving performed at site level and build continuous improvement action plan on Rapid methods.
Coordination between other MGS Regional Labs and COE to ensure alignment, best practice sharing and evolution of WoW.
Support the site labs with the deployment of Mars Laboratory Quality Standard.
As part of the governance process, support to report site labs KPIs.
Conduct technical audits of labs not under their domain for training and PT.
Proactively engage a culture of safe laboratory behaviors role model best practices and provide open feedback to other Mars Inc. associates when working with regional or site labs
Education & Professional Qualifications
Education & Professional Qualification
BSc or MSc in chemistry or related scientific discipline Languages.
English mandatory, local languages is a plus
Knowledge/Experience
3 to 5 years of work experience in a chemistry lab.
ISO 9001, ISO17025 or Mars Laboratory Quality Standard experience
Knowledge/Experience
Essential Good communication skills, both written and spoken English
Essential: customer focus and understanding quality and food safety aspects
Desired: Experience in ethnographic interviewing, design thinking and prototyping of new client centric solutions
Performance evaluation and continuous improvement
Good stakeholder management and communication skills
Fluent in writing and speaking English
