Job Description

Team Summary

The Risk team in Visa is overseeing Strategic Risk Management, with responsibility for championing security in the industry and maintaining the integrity of the Visa Payment Ecosystem. This complex and fast evolving ecosystem includes Issuing and Acquiring banks, Merchants, Cardholders, and Service Providers such as processors, device manufacturers, and payment gateways. The Risk comprise of many business functions, looking after Fraud and Risk Reduction, Visa Rules, Compliance and Standards, Credit Settlement Risk Management, etc.

The role of the Visa Rules, Compliance and Standards team (RCS) is to establish and enforce common interoperable rules and standards for our products and services by which clients must operate their Visa programs. The services provided include Visa Rules management, Dispute adjudication, Contract management and external Standards Body management, which are provided to ensure the safety, security, and integrity of the payment system and to support Visa clients in the development of their electronic payments business.

What an Analyst does at Visa:

This is an operational role for an established professional individual contributor, to manage and process waivers to the Visa Rules, including understanding the downstream impacts of business function sponsor proposals for new or updated products, systems, services, programs, or other initiatives.

The role will ensure that all drafted waivers are consistent with current Visa philosophy while adapting to market-driven change, and that all materials meet department standards of quality and are delivered to the authorized stakeholders for approval. The role requires guiding business function sponsors through the process of concept, development, review, and approval. In addition, the role ensures that all appropriate approvals are obtained, and all related processes are documented and managed within the global function.

The role holder will work independently under moderate supervision. Work is mostly defined by the business but can often be quite complex with respect to assessing the impact to the wider ecosystem. The role holder may influence others within the RCS team and may help coordinate wider cross-functional projects, delegate tasks, and ensure high quality of work within the function.

The expectations of this role include the following and is not limited to:

  • Ensuring waivers reflect Visa goals and strategy

  • Provision of advice and interpretation on the Visa Rules to Clients and Visa staff

  • Management of multiple requests with Business Sponsors at any one time prioritizing as appropriate and provision of direction to Visa staff in various business functions

  • Ensuring that the Visa Rules are easy to understand and do not leave Visa open to any unintended consequences

  • Primarily responsible for managing and processing Visa Rules waivers (mostly Tactical ones but also Complex ones as needed) for CEMEA, AP, and other regions (as necessary)

  • Supporting the Visa Rules Committee due diligence and governance process

  • Communicating waiver approvals or other decisions to impacted Clients

  • Supporting the development and maintenance of departmental processes and procedures

  • Managing independently to priorities liaising with business functions as required based on Visa strategy and key business drivers to ensure revenue is maximized

  • Represent RCS team within the global and regional offices to ensure Visa global initiatives and best practices effectively introduced

Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and remotely, frequently operate standard office equipment and reach with hands and arms.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office minimum 3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office over 50% of the time based on business needs.

This position will be based in Manila (Philippines).

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualification
•5+ years of extensive relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Qualification
•Strong interpersonal skills and proven abilities in negotiating and influencing
clients and staff at all levels, including strong written and verbal
communications skills
•Excellent writing and verbal skills to convey complex topics in “Plain English”
•Strong analytical aptitude and demonstrated track record of working with data
to develop business-oriented solutions as well as the ability to apply sound
business analysis to limit the downstream impact of decisions.
•Experience gathering business requirements and translating needs into
successful deliverables.
•Ability to represent technical and business issues and solutions to multiple
levels internally and externally to support strategic organizational plans.
•Excellent research and analytical skills and advanced planning, organizational
and problem-solving skills.
•Experience working cross-culturally and in remote situations and ability to
effectively work under pressure and adhering to tight deadlines.
•Ability to set priorities and manage expectations, and work both as part of a
team and independently.
•Visa experience or in-depth knowledge of the payment solutions industry is
highly desired – especially Card Payments, ACH or Push Payments; knowledge
of the Visa Rules highly desired.
•Working (intermediate) knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Vision,
Power BI etc.
•Extensive experience with other payment scheme or card departments, a
Regulatory Body, a Card Membership Organization or other Financial Industry
body and knowledge of the Visa Rules
•Awareness and understanding of Visa and Client/Industry business priorities
•Understanding of Visa products, services, and systems
•Multi-lingual capability in at least one other language is a plus
