Team Overview
The Data Science and Analytics team develops advanced analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions that address complex business problems and enable data-driven decision-making across TransUnion. The team translates business strategy into scalable analytics solutions designed to generate measurable impact. Working in a cross-functional environment, the team partners closely with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Data Science and Analytics. This is a remote position which may require occasional in-person attendance at work-related events at the discretion of management.Role Overview And Core Responsibilities
Complete well-defined analytical assignments with guidance while building foundational data science and analytics capabilities.
Deliver accurate, reliable, and timely analytical outputs that support business decision-making.
Prepare, analyze, and validate data to support data-driven business initiatives.
Apply statistical and analytical techniques to address business problems and develop actionable insights with guidance.
Support the development and continuous improvement of scalable, repeatable analytical processes while following established coding and data standards.
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to understand business context, provide progress updates, raise blockers, and align analytical solutions with organizational goals.
Communicate findings and recommendations through clear documentation and presentations while continuously strengthening technical and analytical capabilities.
Required Knowledge And Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- At least one year of professional experience in data analysis, data science, or a related role.
- Foundational knowledge of data analysis and statistical techniques and how they can be applied to business problems.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to complete accurate work on time and follow established standards.
- Experience working in collaborative team environments, participating in discussions, communicating progress or blockers, documenting work, seeking feedback, and continuously improving.
- Foundational to intermediate proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods.
- Foundational to intermediate proficiency in at least one programming language used for data analysis, such as Python or R.
- Foundational to intermediate proficiency in SQL (Structured Query Language) or a similar data-querying language.
- Ability to prepare, analyze, and validate data to produce accurate and reliable analytical outputs.
- Ability to follow established coding, documentation, and data-quality standards.
- Experience with data-visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.
- Exposure to ML (Machine Learning) concepts or data science workflows.
- Familiarity with business areas such as customer success, fraud prevention, or analytics-driven decision-making.
- Experience using Jira or a similar task-management tool.
- Ability to translate analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations and contribute to documentation, presentations, or knowledge-sharing sessions.
