About the job
As Account Manager, Retail & Shopper, you’ll help clients turn changing shopper behaviour, category dynamics and market signals into confident business decisions. You’ll build trusted client relationships, uncover growth opportunities and craft research approaches that address the decisions clients need to make.
Reporting to the Kenya Practice Lead, you’ll bring together research, operations, analytics and commercial colleagues to deliver high-quality work from brief to debrief. You’ll protect project quality and profitability, support the growth of junior colleagues and help strengthen Kantar’s Retail & Shopper practice through relevant, evidence-based recommendations.
Job Goals
- Build a healthy pipeline by growing existing accounts, reactivating relationships and developing relevant prospects.
- Lead client discovery conversations that uncover business priorities and translate them into clear research questions.
- Convert opportunities and briefs into compelling, commercially sound proposals, scopes and pricing recommendations.
- Deliver research and insight projects to agreed scope, timing, budget and quality standards.
- Translate evidence into clear narratives and practical recommendations that support client decisions.
- Strengthen account plans, client relationships and renewal, upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
- Coach project colleagues, clarify responsibilities and share Retail & Shopper knowledge across the team.
Ideal Skills & Capabilities
- Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods, retail measurement and shopper insight, with the judgement to select approaches that fit the client question.
- Ability to interpret retail, fast-moving consumer goods and shopper trends and turn them into timely client conversations and opportunity hypotheses.
- Evidence of developing client accounts, shaping proposals, pricing work and converting opportunities into profitable projects.
- Skill in turning complex evidence into concise narratives, recommendations, proposals and presentations for different client audiences.
- Capability to lead concurrent projects, manage scope and financial performance, resolve risks early and support others’ professional growth.
