Cybersecurity Intern supporting security log reviews, vulnerability scan analysis, threat tracking, risk assessments, compliance audits, security awareness training, and incident response improvements. The role also involves researching emerging threats, tools, and technologies while applying foundational knowledge of networking, operating systems, and cybersecurity concepts. This is a 12-week, full-time, in-office internship in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Supports surety bond underwriting through case evaluations, financial statement analysis, bond submission prequalification, client relationship activities, risk analysis, process improvement, training material creation, and technology-enabled underwriting. The intern develops financial, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills while collaborating with experienced underwriters and participating in professional development and community service activities.

Investigates and adjusts commercial and contract surety bond and E&O claims. Analyzes documents, interviews stakeholders, evaluates losses, reserves, salvage, indemnity, and subrogation rights, and negotiates resolutions. Coordinates payments, outside counsel, and consultants; drafts determination letters, reports, and closing memorandums; reviews applicable laws, regulations, contracts, and case law; and supports compliance and anti-fraud requirements.

Provide administrative and office support for commercial surety underwriters, including entering and processing billings, ordering and adjusting bonds, preparing legal documents, handling cancellations and transfers, maintaining underwriting queues and website records, and communicating with agents to obtain required information.

Senior executive responsible for strategic leadership and operational management of the contract surety business across a division. Oversees underwriting standards, hires and develops regional underwriting teams, approves large or exception bond requests and reinsurer submissions, partners with marketing and industry groups, monitors performance and budgets, and drives growth, retention, and succession planning.

Support underwriting and relationship teams by executing marketing, prospecting, engagement, and event logistics. Maintain CRM records, run producer-level campaigns, coordinate in-person/virtual events, manage follow-up workflows, and assist retention programs to grow agent relationships and customer lifetime value.

Evaluate surety bond risks, prepare quotes, build agent and account relationships through on-site visits, pursue new business, and perform financial analysis to determine rates and underwriting decisions.

Independently investigate and adjust complex contract surety claims, manage reserves and payments, pursue salvage and indemnity, coordinate outside counsel, advise underwriters and agents, prepare reports and legal documentation, and stay current on applicable laws.
