The Senior Managing Editor oversees editorial and production services for scholarly publishing client accounts. Responsibilities include managing staff, ensuring quality and service-level compliance, improving workflows, managing client relationships, preparing reports and invoices, supporting budgets, and contributing to business growth. The role requires expertise in manuscript management systems, operational reengineering, staff development, stakeholder communication, and occasional travel.

Oversee end-to-end direct mail production, including scheduling, proofs, vendor coordination, supplier bidding, postal optimization, billing, invoicing, reporting, and campaign performance analysis. Manage client and cross-functional communications, maintain project data, reconcile postage and supplier invoices, recommend production and distribution strategies, and ensure campaigns are delivered accurately and on time. This is a remote role with 10% travel.

Manage client communications and branded merchandise projects from concept through production. Responsibilities include developing merchandise ideas, preparing quotes and sales orders, coordinating product selections and artwork, communicating with suppliers, tracking pricing and timelines, and supporting accurate order processing. The role requires strong organization, problem-solving, client service, and independent workflow within a remote team.

Support an autonomous vehicle Fleet Service Management data program as the on-site liaison between client engineering teams and distributed authors. Enter and validate service procedures, research CAD and PLM data, resolve technical questions, perform quality checks, track project progress and risks, and lead final QA, documentation, knowledge transfer, and client handoff activities.

Manage customer accounts and coordinate order production between customers, sales, manufacturing, purchasing, scheduling, and shipping. Resolve complaints, monitor job schedules and holds, maintain accurate billing and order records, manage shipping instructions, support sales growth, and train customers and employees. The role also assigns work to assistants, supports continuous improvement, prepares customer reports, and ensures timely communication and completion of print orders.

Conduct research and analyze qualitative and quantitative information for scholarly publishing consulting engagements. Develop findings, recommendations, financial analyses, reports, presentations, and client deliverables. Manage project workstreams, priorities, deadlines, client communications, and presentations while supporting proposals and business development. Apply scholarly publishing expertise to strategic planning, market research, competitive analysis, pricing, publishing programs, licensing, and financial advisory projects.

Processes and maintains customer mailing lists for print and postal operations. Reviews raw data, performs address standardization, CASS certification, NCOA processing, deduplication, DPV verification, and USPS presorting. Prepares label and inkjet files, resolves data-quality issues, documents billable mailing activity, and coordinates schedules with customer service, production, bindery, and billing teams while meeting deadlines and accuracy standards.

Leads technology and process-improvement initiatives for print and publishing services. Supports and maintains software, workflows, and business systems; defines requirements; collaborates with customers, developers, stakeholders, and vendors; and manages projects through delivery. Provides technical support to Sales, Account Management, Finance, and Operations, conducts technology demonstrations, audits workflows, recommends improvements, and assists with training and onboarding.

The Senior Editorial Manager will lead and mentor a team in developing high-quality math content for PreK-5, ensuring standards of accuracy and project management while collaborating with various teams.
