Avant Leadership & Management

Avant Employee Perspectives

What’s a quotable hallmark of good management on your team?

Good management is knowing when to step back but also ensuring alignment. I strongly believe that if you show me the incentives, I can show you the outcomes.

We are actively operationalizing this mindset through the Avant Management Program. We are looking to build the next generation of leaders at Avant who are capable of driving cross-functional outcomes. Through this program, we don’t just teach management skills; we incentivize leaders to take ownership, align their teams with broader goals, and lead with impact.

Which metric or practice shows it’s working?

I measure success by our ability to move the needle on specific business outcomes. Ultimately, delivering measurable results is far more important than tracking the completion of daily tasks. If we are hitting our goals, the process is working.

What behavior models great management daily?

To me, great management is defined by consistency and active unblocking. We use weekly syncs for collaborative problem-solving, while the rest of my week is dedicated to clearing the path for my team.

Avant Employee Reviews

“One thing Avant is really good at is you don’t feel a strong gap between hierarchies. An example would be our Town Hall questions. You can submit any question, and the Exec team addresses them even though some of the questions are quite difficult. And in general in everyday work, it’s easy to talk to higher levels, managers, skip levels. It’s not intimidating when you raise your opinion or speak of your own ideas. I think that’s what Avant does well.”

“We’re really good at being willing to listen. From management to colleagues to peers, from company town halls to monthly surveys to department meetings, there are so many opportunities to be heard, ask questions, share feedback, and understand what is happening across the company. It’s not just that the leadership takes the questions, but they give thoughtful responses, even when the questions are difficult and some of the answers are not what people hope for. Leadership takes time to explain the rationale behind their answer, and that transparency helps build trust, even in moments where a decision is challenging.”
