On Suzy Nemeth’s team at lending platform provider Enova, becoming a “boomerang” employee has almost become a rite of passage.

After working at other companies, Nemeth felt that Enova had more to offer and decided to return. The most telling part of her experience is that others on her team have done the same exact thing.

“When multiple people independently choose the same company twice, that’s not coincidence — it’s a signal that Enova consistently holds up against alternatives,” Nemeth said.

For Nemeth, Enova’s people and its culture set the company apart from others in its industry. Karlie Souris feels similarly about corporate travel and expense software company Navan, where she works as a global talent attraction senior program manager, supported by a culture that offers complex, high-impact work and supportive colleagues.

“We value directness and challenge each other to execute at our best, but we support one another deeply along the way, celebrating the grit, resourcefulness and creativity required to build while ‘flying the plane,’” she said.

At Enova, Navan and six other companies, including Arrive Logistics and HERE Technologies, employees have been empowered to build careers that bring them fulfillment, connection and, for some, a reason to return. Read on to see what Nemeth, Souris and others had to say about why they made the right choice in choosing their employer.

Navan is a corporate travel and expense software company that makes travel and expenses easy.

In one memorable line, how would you describe day-to-day satisfaction on your team?

Our teams find daily satisfaction being in the rare “sweet spot” that Navan offers: the high-impact energy and autonomy to solve complex global problems at startup speed, combined with the certainty of a market-defining platform and the resources of a global AI powerhouse.

Would you recommend working here — and what proof backs that up?

At Navan, we drive aggressively toward a shared mission. We value directness and challenge each other to execute at our best, but we support one another deeply along the way, celebrating the grit, resourcefulness and creativity required to build while “flying the plane.” If you want to work with driven, caring teammates who are all in on building something extraordinary, you will thrive here.

The proof is in the data: 77 percent of Glassdoor reviewers would recommend Navan to a friend, and 95 percent of employee reviews on Comparably are positive. Our commitment to the culture is further proven by our “boomerang” rehire rate, which has doubled in the last three years. Furthermore, referrals and network connections remain our number-one source of hire, signaling that our team members don’t just enjoy the work — they’re actively recruiting their most talented peers to join them in transforming the way the world experiences business travel.

How are you perceived externally right now, and what signals support that?

Navan is recognized globally as the global AI-powered business travel and expense platform that makes travel easy for frequent travelers. This is evidenced by our recognition as a G2 Best Global Software Company (2025–2026), a CNBC Disruptor 50 (2022–2025) and a Forbes Fintech 50 (2022–2025).

Beyond the product, our reputation as a premier employer is stronger than ever. In 2026, Navan earned eight Best Places to Work awards from Built In, recognizing us as a top-tier workplace across the United States and in major tech hubs like San Francisco, New York, Austin and Dallas. These accolades reflect that we are winning in both the market and our internal culture. This perception is cemented by the trust of more than 10,000 global customers who rely on Navan to solve the world’s most complex travel and expense management challenges through relentless AI innovation.

Senior Business Development Manager  • Arrive Logistics

Arrive Logistics’ digital tools are designed to help shippers and carriers manage processes more easily.

In one memorable line, how would you describe day-to-day satisfaction on your team?

My team has a very competitive and collaborative mindset. Each rep is hustling every day to maximize their paycheck, but if you ask anyone on my team for help or advice, they will stop what they are doing to support. We work hard, support one another and have a lot of fun celebrating the wins!

Would you recommend working here — and what proof backs that up?

There is not a better time to be at Arrive. We still have the “hustle” mentality of a startup, and you back that up with the infrastructure of a $2 billion+ company — it’s a lethal combo.

Selling Arrive has never been easier, as our name carriers a lot of weight in the industry. I typically look for candidates who don’t back down from a challenge, are not afraid of hard work, and are coachable. I’ve been in the industry for over 15 years, and I have just as much fun today as I did when I first started. Being successful at Arrive is 85 percent hard work, and the rest we can teach you. 29 percent of Arrive’s accepted offers came from referrals in 2025.

How are you perceived externally right now, and what signals support that?

The number of awards we have received is a testament to our ability to execute at the highest level. We consistently set the standard for our customers on how an elite brokerage should operate.

My team has won the Ravago 2025 Partner of the Year award for the third straight year. This is an award that recognizes excellence in service and communication.

Principal Architect  • HERE Technologies

HERE Technologiesunified live map provides location data that helps automakers and enterprises build reliable automated driving systems, improve electric vehicle battery consumption and more.

In one memorable line, how would you describe day-to-day satisfaction on your team?

As an architect, I am supporting development teams with designing and developing solutions used by big corporate clients and individual customers. Seeing ideas turn into functional products gives my work a real sense of purpose and empowerment. It boosts day-to-day satisfaction, even if you need to wait some time to see results of your work on production.

“Seeing ideas turn into functional products gives my work a real sense of purpose and empowerment.”

As a member of the architecture team, I am also fortunate to work with people who have an impact on many company initiatives, so not only do I learn new ideas and concepts from areas that I am not directly involved with, but I can also get a better understanding of how the whole company is operating.

Would you recommend working here — and what proof backs that up?

I would definitely recommend working here. It is a place where you can work with a multi-tiered system covering everything from embedded firmware to cloud-scale infrastructure, where you need to solve really complex problems, and where the possibility to use modern, AI-powered tools makes that work challenging and satisfying.

Another aspect of the company’s working environment that I appreciate is the possibility to collaborate face to face with people from the physical office and also online with people from various parts of the world. The flexible and hybrid working mode greatly supports that.

How are you perceived externally right now, and what signals support that?

I think that the perception of the company and its product is good. We have great and mighty competitors, but despite that, our solutions are evaluated very well. To support that thesis: HERE ranks as the leading location platform in the latest Omdia Location Platform Index Report.

Suzy Nemeth
Senior Manager I, Strategy and Operations  • Enova

Enova’s lending platform is designed to serve small businesses and consumers who are underserved by traditional banks.

In one memorable line, how would you describe day-to-day satisfaction on your team?

Being challenged and supported by people who push you to grow every day. As a “boomerang” employee, what drew me back to Enova and what keeps me here comes down to the people and the culture. The colleagues I’m surrounded by, from managers to peers to direct reports, are exceptionally sharp. They consistently challenge the way I think and push me to approach problems more creatively and rigorously. That kind of intellectual environment is rare.

Enova is also where I built the professional foundation I still rely on today. The fundamentals I learned here early in my career continue to serve me well, both inside and outside the company, which speaks to the quality of the work and the standards the team upholds.

What keeps me energized is that Enova doesn’t just talk about career development; the company follows through. I’m consistently given opportunities that stretch my skills and offer meaningful visibility across the organization. It’s a place that actively invests in its people, and that’s not something I take for granted.

Would you recommend working here — and what proof backs that up?

I’m a “boomerang” employee, and that choice wasn’t made lightly; it came after experiencing what other companies had to offer and ultimately, Enova came out ahead. What’s even more telling is that I’m not the only “boomerang” on my team. When multiple people independently choose the same company twice, that’s not coincidence — it’s a signal that Enova consistently holds up against alternatives.

That pattern is reinforced by employee tenure. A substantial portion of Enova’s workforce has been with the company for more than five years (my combined tenure is eight and a half). In an industry known for high turnover, that level of retention reflects something genuine: Enova doesn’t just attract talented people, but continues to earn their loyalty as it evolves. In 2025, 25 percent of hires were referrals or “boomerangs,” showing that not only do people want to come back, they want to bring in colleagues from their network. In our recent employee survey, 87 percent of employees recommend Enova as a great place to work. Enova has changed over the years but brings its people along, providing opportunities to grow with Enova at every stage, rather than leaving them behind. That’s harder than most realize, and it’s a big part of why people stay or come back!

“In 2025, 25 percent of hires were referrals or ‘boomerangs,’ showing that not only do people want to come back, they want to bring in colleagues from their network.”

How are you perceived externally right now, and what signals support that?

Every year, Enova is recognized on Great Places to Work lists, including Built In’s and ComputerWorld’s, but my own experience is still the most compelling to me, at least.

Before returning to Enova, I saw firsthand how valuable the skills I developed here are beyond the company. I was consistently recognized for the problem-solving, relationship management and project management skills I had built here. Enova had made me more valuable externally. That’s a meaningful data point: The skills and habits the company invests in developing actually hold up when tested against the broader market.

What stood out even more, though, was how people responded to my decision to return. In interviews, meetings and casual conversations, the “boomerang” story consistently surprised people and sparked genuine curiosity. In an industry where talent moves fast and companies struggle to retain people for even two or three years, the idea that someone would return says something that numbers alone can’t capture.

To me, that reaction is validation in its own right: Enova’s reputation for developing people and sustaining a strong culture speaks for itself — and stands out — externally.

There’s a steady sense that our work matters, progress is visible, and the team shows up for each other every day.

Would you recommend working here — and what proof backs that up?

Yes, I love working here! I might be perceived as biased being in HR, but our data and employee behavior support that. Our internal engagement survey shows above-benchmark scores in employee satisfaction and “would recommend” sentiment. We see above-industry retention, with average tenure at 6.4 years, compared to the typical two to four years in tech, and nearly nine years for people leaders. This reflects our commitment to long-term engagement and a supportive working environment for our employees. Plus, the people who work here genuinely care about making a difference in our customers’ lives and being good coworkers. We regularly see former employees “boomerang,” or return to the company, which is a strong signal that the experience here leaves a lasting positive impression.

How are you perceived externally right now, and what signals support that?

Across review platforms and candidate conversations, I think the perception is generally positive and grounded. People are drawn to the combination of meaningful work, approachable teams and flexibility, while also recognizing we’re a growing company still evolving in some areas. We earned Built In’s Best Places to Work awards in both 2025 and 2026, which signals our quality of culture and validates our awesome employer brand. Externally, we are also seen as trusted partners in the environmental, health and safety, and environmental, social and governance space.

On a more human note, this is a place where you can say your work actually helps keep people safer at work. The mix of real-world impact and everyday camaraderie is a big part of how we’re experienced and talked about externally.

Nina Bouzamondo-Bernstein
Product Operations Manager  • Toro TMS

Toro TMS offers a transportation management system for the trucking industry that’s designed to tackle the back-office challenges of bulk hauling, from load management and dispatch to accounting and driver payroll.

In one memorable line, how would you describe day-to-day satisfaction on your team?

It’s a place where you’re always learning, empowered to do meaningful work, and close enough to your customers to see exactly why it matters.

Would you recommend working here — and what proof backs that up?

As a college hire, Toro believed in me and bet on my potential early. From day one, everyone on the team showed up for me and was quick to offer support, share knowledge, and make sure I had what I needed to succeed. My manager has been a true coach and mentor, with real one-on-one investment in my professional development and workshops to back it up.

What has stood out the most is that my voice has mattered from the start. Early in my career, I’ve been able to identify real gaps, take a shot at solving them, and see those changes stick for the long term. That kind of ownership doesn’t happen at most companies, especially not this early.

“Early in my career, I’ve been able to identify real gaps, take a shot at solving them, and see those changes stick for the long term.”

I’ve also had the chance to connect and collaborate with every single team at Toro and see how every part of the business thinks, not just my own corner of it. I’ve had two promotions in under two years, a clear intention to grow into product leadership and a company that supported that path every step of the way. I feel like I’m just getting started, and that doesn’t happen by accident.

How are you perceived externally right now, and what signals support that?

Toro is recognized as a leader in transportation management software. We swept the 2024 awards across Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice for ease of use, functionality, customer support and most recommended. But honestly, the signal I find most meaningful is what customers say unprompted. Trucking is an industry that never stops; drivers, dispatchers and owners are often working around the clock with little room for breaks or real time off. One owner I helped onboard shared that Toro gave her the freedom to take her first real family vacation in years; a week at Disneyland with her daughter and grandkids, while working from her laptop in the mornings and being fully present the rest of the day. That’s the kind of impact that shows up in our reviews, our referral network and the fact that customers talk about us to each other like a community.
