To the Tech Community,
I’m writing to reach out in support of those dealing with the layoffs that have rattled the tech world. While layoffs fell nearly 90% from January to June, more than 10,000 people are still affected every month. Many in the tech community are still searching for the right next job. For the good of our community, we must continue to support and uplift those affected and inject energy into the tech industry.
While it may take time, tech always comes back. Time and again, tech professionals have faced mass layoffs – the dot-com crash, the Great Recession, COVID-19 – but each time, tech employment has come back to even higher numbers. We already see layoffs dropping dramatically. But many affected folks are still hunting for their next role – so it’s important for our community to continue to come together and support each other.
That’s why I’m now calling on you to join us in #RaisingUpTech. As we come together in this movement, we will bring support and guidance to our affected colleagues – and to the companies that will welcome them in time.
