The role?
The Workshop Manager will oversee and coordinate all operations related to the refurbishment and maintenance of offshore pedestal crane components within the workshop. This role involves managing workshop activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, optimizing productivity, and delivering high-quality services. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in mechanical systems, leadership capabilities, and a focus on safety and efficiency.
Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas
Workshop Operations Management:
- Plan, schedule, and supervise all refurbishment and maintenance activities for offshore pedestal crane components.
- Ensure the efficient use of resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules to meet project deadlines.
Technical Oversight:
- Inspect and assess the condition of components and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
- Provide technical guidance to workshop teams on mechanical, hydraulic, and structural repair processes.
- Ensure adherence to quality control standards during all refurbishment activities.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of Supervisors, technicians and support staff.
- Conduct regular training sessions to ensure team members are up-to-date on the latest techniques and safety practices.
- Motivate staff to maintain high levels of productivity and morale.
Inventory and Asset Management:
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, tools, and equipment.
- Coordinate procurement of spare parts and materials required for refurbishment projects.
- Monitor the condition of workshop tools and equipment, ensuring timely calibration and servicing.
Client and Stakeholder Coordination:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding refurbishment projects.
- Provide regular updates on project status, timelines, and budgets.
- Ensure client specifications and requirements are met with high-quality outcomes.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and present detailed reports on workshop activities, including work completed, resource utilization, and performance metrics.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all maintenance and refurbishment processes.
Requirements
Essential:
- Education: Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in workshop management, preferably within the oil and gas or heavy machinery sector.
- Technical Knowledge: Expertise in offshore pedestal cranes, including structural components, hydraulic systems, and mechanical assemblies.
- Familiarity with international standards such as API, ISO, and DNV for crane refurbishment.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience in managing and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- HSE Knowledge: Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the oil and gas sector.
- Good in English language (reading, writing and communication skills).
- Good working knowledge of MS Office programs.
