Gett provides mission-critical mobility services for the general public, business customers, drivers, and partners. In an industry currently being redefined by the rapid emergence of Generative AI, we are looking for a VP of R&D who will not only maintain our standards of reliability but actively drive the technological and structural evolution required to lead in this new landscape.

The Role and Impact

As the VP of R&D, you will be the primary driver of our engineering strategy and the organizational glue that ensures high-level execution across all technical domains. This is a role centered on accountability and transformation. You will be responsible for architecting an R&D organization that is agile enough to capitalize on industry disruptions - specifically the integration of GenAI into our workflows and product offerings - while ensuring our core systems remain robust.

You will serve as the strategic counterpart to the VP of Product, working in lockstep to align technical feasibility with product vision. Together, you will ensure that the "how" of our engineering organization effectively supports the "what" of our business goals.

Your Mandate:

  • Being the leader for the engineering teams that develop the Gett platform (including ~80 engineers working on all customer facing applications, Gett marketplace, billing, payments and customer care applications)
  • Driving Change: Lead the continuous improvement of our technology stack, engineering processes, and organizational structure to increase velocity and quality.
  • AI Leadership: Direct the ongoing integration of GenAI across the R&D organization to optimize internal development cycles and enhance our platform’s capabilities.
  • Customer-Facing Evolution: Oversee the modernization of our mobile and web applications, transitioning them into AI-native experiences that provide hyper-personalized value and intuitive interactions for our users and drivers 
  • Marketplace Stewardship: Oversee the complex SaaS platform that powers our Marketplace, managing the real-time interactions between users, drivers, internal fleets, and third-party mobility providers.
  • Operational Infrastructure: Maintain ultimate accountability for the mission-critical systems that sustain our business, including:
  • Billing & Payments: Ensuring precision in client/vendor transactions, credit card processing, and fraud prevention.
  • Customer Care Tech: Overseeing the development of in-house tools that leverage automation to maximize operational efficiency.
Requirements

We are looking for a seasoned leader who moves beyond functional management to provide true organizational leadership. You are someone who thrives on building cohesive teams and is comfortable being the final point of accountability for both technical successes and the evolution of the engineering culture. If you are a leader who can balance the rigor of enterprise SaaS with the agility required by the current AI-driven shift, we look forward to discussing this role with you.

Requirements:

  • Inspiring people leader with a track record of developing high-performing teams of >50 people
  • Demonstrated ability to grow and coach managers
  • Strong Leadership skills – ability to inspire, motivate, train and manage the team to meet high goals. And especially, under the challenge of working remotely
  • 10-15+ years of technical experience, including 5+ years managing high-scale production systems, with a successful track record with tech stack relevant to Gett - AWS, K8S, Golang, Ruby, React
  • Track record of adoption of GenAI tools in the SDLC
  • Extensive experience leading design and architecture-related activities
  • Demonstrated familiarity with agile methodologies and team structures, such as the 'Squad' model - an advantage 
  • International customer and SaaS experience - an advantage
  • Strong understanding of the commercial impact of technology on business outcomes
  • Ability to work successfully in a dynamic, ambiguous environment
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads
  • Ability to develop new ideas and creative solutions
  • A combination of start-up and large enterprise experience - an advantage
  • Obsessed with technology and engineering culture
