The Team You Will Join
MetLife Insurance Investments (MII) manages MetLife's investment portfolio, developing risk-managed strategies across global markets and asset classes to support business goals, match insurance liabilities, and ensure risk and return alignment. MII's work is integral to MetLife's legacy, driving returns and long-term stability through meticulous investment and strategic planning. Our asset portfolio represents over a century of disciplined investment experience and foresight. With us, you will design investment solutions and uncover opportunities that drive returns and long-term stability in collaboration with a team of industry leaders. Join us and leave a lasting impact.
The Opportunity
This role oversees MetLife's General Account investments across asset sectors for operations outside of the United States, in close partnership with MII's regional CIO organizations and in-country MII teams. These portfolios are part of local insurance operations across the globe that primarily include local sovereign and corporate bonds, international sovereign and corporate bonds sourced to complement local investments, real estate debt and equity, private equity, and certain other fund investments. You will monitor macroeconomic and sector developments to shape your views on the portfolios you cover and work closely with our internal asset management partners at MIM and local MII staff to translate those views into portfolio positioning. The role requires ongoing communication with MIM and local MII teams on portfolio performance, large or complex transactions, new asset sectors, and broader market trends. You will also partner with teams across MII, Global Risk Management, and other business partners to help drive the best outcomes for our international General Account portfolios. In addition, you will communicate portfolio performance and outlook to a broad range of stakeholders, including MetLife senior management, partner functions, and regulators.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with regional CIO organizations, local business partners and in-country MII staff to align global and local investment philosophy and strategy while addressing diverging complexities of local markets
- Oversee investment activity to ensure consistent alignment with MII's local investment philosophy and strategy, and make any adjustments when necessary
- Collaborate with local investments staff, where pertinent, to share global investment best practices and offer asset sector expertise where needed
- Leverage broader Global Credit and Equity team, where needed, to ensure global alignment and bring asset sector expertise to assess new asset classes/asset allocation, direct activity, or evaluate complex transactions
- Closely collaborate with regional CIO organizations, in-country MII staff and MII's investment strategy team to help optimize MetLife's strategic and tactical asset allocation decisions
- Work together with MII's investments operations and finance teams in analyzing and communicating the positioning of MetLife's investments in international portfolios to internal and external stakeholders
- Partner with GRM in monitoring the risk positioning of the international portfolios, assessing risk interconnections with the broader General Account, and ensuring compliance with MetLife's investment guidelines and investment limits framework
- Mentor and develop junior talent within the team, and actively support talent development in the broader Global Credit and Equity organization
