Summary:

The Vice President, Finance, is responsible for meeting Ovation Healthcare commitments and contractual obligations to contracted hospitals and the retention of multi-year contract hospitals within assigned regions while also managing assigned regions to include SVPs.  The VP-Finance will also be responsible for overall coordination of Ovation Healthcare strategic activities, marketing, sales, and growth within the designated markets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Monitors and ensures compliance with Ovation Healthcare Operating Principals.

  • Provides general and technical support to Hospital CEOs and CFOs.

  • Performs on-site evaluations of certain hospital controls, systems, procedures, reimbursement functions, and receivables management to identify problem areas.  Requests specialized assistance when needed.

  • Reviews and provides input for major capital expenditure requests for accuracy and compliance.

  • Assists in the preparation and review of the budget, management plans, and strategic plans of hospitals within the Region.

  • Reviews external audit findings and provides input in making related recommendations.

  • Monitors and ensures compliance with cost report protocols for assigned hospital.

  • Assists in the review of hospital multi-year physician, service, and managed care contracts.

  • Coordinates information collection for hospital monthly Board Reports and Annual Benefit Reports.

  • Reviews and analyzes periodic financial reports and monitors Regional Tool Kits for trends.  Participates in monthly operational review calls.  Leads call in absence of SVP.

  • Monitors consistency and quality of financial performance from the assigned hospitals.

  • Manages regions as assigned.

  • In conjunction with the hospital CEO, assists in the hospital CFO's recruitment, selection, and development, including the establishment of goals and review of the annual performance evaluation.

  • Responsible for the administrative aspects of leading the department/team to include budgeting, time approvals, staff evaluations and expense approvals.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong finance and accounting knowledge and experience.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.  Ability to effectively communicate with client Board representatives. 

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and reporting skills.

  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and especially Excel (pivot tables, V-lookup’s, etc)

  • Ability to make presentations to managers, small groups, physicians, and senior leadership and hospital boards.

  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Work Experience, Education, and Certifications:

  • Minimum requirements include BS/BA in Accounting desired.  CPA, MBA and FHFMA preferred.  Ten-plus years of progressive healthcare financial management experience, primarily as a hospital CFO desired.  

  • Previous experience in multi-facility role, healthcare audit, or consulting would be helpful, but not required. 

  • Solid understanding and in-depth experience in working in the healthcare industry.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Reliable high-speed internet connection is required for all remote/hybrid positions.

  • Must have access to stable Wi-Fi with sufficient bandwidth to support video conferencing, cloud-based tools, and other online work-related activities.

  • A HIPAA-compliant work environment is required, including a secure workspace free from unauthorized access or interruptions, no use of public Wi-Fi unless connected through a secure company-provided VPN, and compliance with all applicable HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
