This role reports into the Country President for Canada and is a key member of the Canadian Leadership Team.


 

Job Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Patient Access teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

  • Partner with strategic therapeutic areas (TA’s), Region and Global to maximize access to our innovative treatments.

  • Develop and continually enhance best in class patient access capabilities to establish and retain competitive advantage in a dynamic market environment.

  • Oversee the development and implement access solutions with a focus on our priority geographic markets.

  • Provide effective and inspiring functional leadership for the market access team(s), actively work on career development.

  • Provide leadership for the development of Novartis positions on key issues and strategic country plans

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, regulatory, and commercial, to align patient access strategies with overall business objectives.

  • Guide management and the team in political analysis of external trends and development

  • Monitor the political and legal environments, provide advice on its impact and seize new opportunities for Novartis business and shape public policy and legislation

  • Role model and build a culture of being curious, inspired, unbossed

Essential Requirements:

  • Business or scientific degree, an advanced degree in health economics, public health, business administration, or a related field is an asset.

  • 15+ years in the pharmaceutical industry

  • In-depth understanding of national and provincial political environments and healthcare structure

  • Strong influencer and negotiator

  • Fluent in English and French with outstanding communication and collaboration capabilities

  • Strong business acumen

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience working in a global or regional pharmaceutical access leadership role

  • Familiarity with real-world evidence (RWE) and its application in access strategies
