Job Description:
- Define and own the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for power electronics systems.
- Lead the design, simulation, prototyping, and validation of high-efficiency rectifier and DC-DC converter systems (10 kW to >5 MW).
- Drive innovation in cost-effective, scalable, and high-efficiency power conversion for electrolyzer stacks.
- Partner with mechanical, thermal, and systems engineering to co-optimize packaging, cooling, and integration.
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary team of power electronics engineers and technicians.
- Evaluate and manage relationships with component vendors, contract manufacturers, and external design partners.
- Ensure compliance with relevant grid codes, EMC/EMI standards, UL, IEC, IEEE or other regulatory frameworks.
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to align technical goals with commercial requirements.
- Support the development of internal and external IP strategy in power electronics and system design
- Guide the firmware architecture, coding standards, testing, and release processes to ensure high reliability and maintainability.
- Ensure firmware co-development is tightly integrated with hardware design for optimal system-level performance.
- Collaborate with systems and stack engineering to align control strategies with electrolyzer operational requirements.
Desired Qualifications :
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a focus on power electronics.
- 18+ years of industry experience in power electronics, including at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Deep understanding of AC-DC and DC-DC conversion topologies, especially in multi-kilowatt to multi-megawatt power classes.
- Experience with medium voltage systems and safe, reliable system design in those domains.
- Proven success delivering modular, scalable and high-efficiency electrical architectures under cost and performance constraints.
- Hands-on experience with digital control systems, gate drivers, magnetics design and thermal management.
- Strong familiarity with grid-connected systems, including solar PV inverters, battery energy storage or similar.
- Excellent leadership, communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
You will lead the strategy, architecture, design, and deployment of high-efficiency, low-cost power electronics systems, including two-stage AC-DC and DC-DC converters. This role includes full ownership of both the hardware and embedded firmware/control systems that enable safe, precise, and efficient operation across a wide dynamic range.
Ideal candidates will bring a strong background in medium and low voltage, modular and scalable designs, and digital control firmware development, with industry experience in grid-level solar inverters, battery storage systems, or related high-power conversion platforms.

What We Do
Ohmium's mission is to accelerate the adoption of green hydrogen to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors and enable a low-carbon future. Ohmium designs, manufactures and deploys modular, scalable proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer systems that enable cost-competitive green hydrogen production. Ohmium’s systems are vertically-stackable and integrate advanced power electronics, delivering superior value for a wide range of commercial and industrial applications in terms of safety, energy density, scalability and ramp rate. The human-scale electrolyzers are efficient to manufacture, quick to transport and easy to maintain. This versatility enables cost-effective plug-and-play operations that can scale rapidly. Ohmium has a global green hydrogen project pipeline across the U.S., Mexico, Europe and Asia.
