The Role

About this role

Your team

BlackRock is trusted to manage more money than any other investment manager in the world, helping millions of people and the world's largest institutions and governments achieve their investing goals.

The ETF Platform team sits within BlackRock Global Markets & Index Investments (BGM), which brings together Index Investments, Markets, Liquidity & Financing, and Platform & Strategy. BGM delivers superior market access and investment outcomes through:

  • Deep expertise spanning investments, markets, risk management, and platform design
  • Embedded technology capabilities driving scale, resilience, and innovation
  • Industry leadership focused on transparency, accessibility, and cost efficiency for investors

The ETF Platform team is responsible for the end-to-end design, evolution and scalability of the ETF operating model, enabling product innovation across the ETF value chain and reinforcing BlackRock's leadership in the ETF industry.

Your role and impact

  • As a Vice President in ETF Platform & Product Development, you will help design and deliver innovative iShares ETFs and the platform capabilities required to support them.
  • You will lead the development of next-generation ETF and exchange-traded product (ETP) solutions across active, derivative-based and digital asset exposures, translating investment concepts into scalable product structures, market solutions and operating models.
  • You will partner with Product, Portfolio Management, ETF Capital Markets, Technology, Operations, Risk, Legal and Compliance while also considering the broader market ecosystem, including exchanges, market makers and liquidity providers.
  • The role offers an opportunity to shape how increasingly complex ETFs are developed, launched and scaled and to help evolve the platform that supports future growth.

Your responsibilities

In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:

  • Architect innovative ETF operating models: Design and implement end-to-end operating models and platform capabilities that enable new ETF products, investment strategies and asset classes.
  • Lead complex product innovation: Partner with Product and Investment teams to develop next-generation ETF and ETP solutions, including active, derivative-based and digital asset exposures, translating investment concepts into scalable structures and operating models.
  • Drive cross-functional execution: Lead complex initiatives across Portfolio Management, ETF Capital Markets, Technology, Operations, Risk, Legal and Compliance, aligning stakeholders, managing dependencies and driving decisions through implementation.
  • Build scalable and resilient platforms: Modernize the ETF platform through scalable operating models, automation, artificial intelligence-enabled workflows and market infrastructure developments that increase capacity, strengthen controls and support future growth.
  • Develop the market ecosystem: Partner with relevant trading desks, exchanges, market makers, liquidity providers and other market participants to address structural challenges and support ETF market quality, trading outcomes and ecosystem efficiency.
  • Solve complex investment-lifecycle challenges: Identify risks, constraints and opportunities across the ETF lifecycle and develop practical solutions that balance investor outcomes, commercial objectives, investment requirements, scalability and operational risk.
  • Lead through influence and expertise: Synthesize complex topics, articulate trade-offs and drive alignment with senior stakeholders while sharing expertise, supporting colleagues and contributing to the development of ETF platform and product capabilities.

Your experience

  • Experience in ETFs, investment management, capital markets, investment operations, risk management or related areas of financial services, with exposure to product development and/or platform design.
  • Strong understanding of securities markets, investment products and the ETF ecosystem, including multiple asset classes and the investment lifecycle; experience with equity derivatives is preferred.
  • Experience designing or implementing operating models, investment workflows or platform capabilities that support investment products at scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, develop strong relationships, influence decisions and drive outcomes across diverse stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to connect complex processes, challenge existing approaches, assess trade-offs and translate ideas into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex topics and engage effectively with senior stakeholders and partners across investment, markets, technology, operations, risk and control functions.
  • Intellectual curiosity and an interest in investment strategies, market structure, technology and emerging approaches such as automation and artificial intelligence, combined with sound judgement, organization and an outcome-oriented approach.

What We Do

As the world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock partners with investors around the globe to help them (and those on whose behalf they invest) plan for life’s most important goals – like retirement, home ownership and their children’s education. Our clients range from governments, foundations and other large institutions to those investing on behalf of individuals, including firefighters, nurses, teachers and factory workers. BlackRock was founded with the idea of creating a better asset management firm — one that was purpose-driven, focused on clients and risk management, and propelled by data and technology. Our breakthrough Aladdin® platform is BlackRock’s technological backbone, helping investors see and manage their whole portfolios in one place – from constructing investments to monitoring risk and executing trades. Used by hundreds of external institutions around the world, Aladdin combines powerful analytics and a common language to help investment teams make faster, more informed decisions across public and private markets. It’s a key part of our business and one of the reasons we’re trusted to manage more assets than any other investment manager today. At BlackRock, we challenge conventions and raise the bar for what’s possible. We harness technology to unlock new solutions, simplify complexity, and deliver investment strategies that meet people where they are. Whether it’s retirement planning, wealth building or navigating market shifts, we’re here to help clients invest more easily, more affordably and with more choice as we chart a path toward financial well-being together.
