The User Experience Research (UXR) department plays a critical role in assisting the organization with optimizing product launches, prioritizing resources, and identifying whitespace opportunities. UXR is at the forefront of the research industry, regularly piloting new capabilities and speaking at conferences. In this role you will have the opportunity to work and interact with senior level leaders and greatly influence the future direction of the organization.

This position is located in Denver, Colorado as a hybrid position requiring 3 days in office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Candidates must live in the United States.

Not based in Denver? We will offer a relocation bonus to help make your move to the Mile High City a smooth one.

What you will be doing:

  • Use a mix of qualitative and quantitative methodologies to understand our users and business environment.

  • Do this work in three contexts:

    • Up-front, generative discovery (e.g. user and stakeholder interviews, journey mapping, service blueprinting, task analysis, personas/JTBD, etc.)

    • Partner with designers in the iterative design process (e.g. usability testing, click testing, information architecture card sorting & tree tests, etc.)

    • Post-launch optimization and continuous discovery efforts (e.g. A/B & multivariate testing, UMUX and other user sentiment surveys, etc.)

  • Advocate for both UXR as a practice (principles, methodology, operations) as well as the specific insights and ramifications of your research efforts.

    • Designers, product managers, and data analysts are your most frequent collaborators

    • Be counted on to champion UXR with engineering, business development, and marketing partners

  • Use industry standard tools such as UserTesting, Miro, Qualtrics, dScout, Google Workspace, Slack, etc.

  • Be a self-starter managing and communicating your priorities, timelines, and projects’ strategic direction

  • Geek out with research team members about best practices, new tools, and unexpected insights

  • Embrace and uphold Ibotta’s Core Values of Integrity, Boldness, Ownership, Teamwork, Transparency, and A good idea can come from anywhere

What we are looking for:

  • 2-4 years experience of applied UX research in an in-house or agency setting

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Curiosity - both in the work to be done and in growing your skills as a UXR

  • Ability to thrive in an environment of ambiguity as we grow the UXR practice

  • Experience scoping and conducting complex research projects

  • Understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods - and when and how to select one approach over another
