Lead qualitative and quantitative UX research for complex industrial analytics and AI-enabled products. Define research strategies, conduct interviews and usability studies, synthesize customer evidence, and influence product strategy, roadmaps, workflows, and requirements. Summary Generated by Built In

As a UX Researcher at Seeq, you’ll join our UX team and collaborate with fellow UX researchers,

designers, product managers, engineers, and customer-facing teams to ensure we are solving the right

problems for the people who use our products. You’ll conduct impactful research, contribute to our

team’s research practice, and influence product decisions across our portfolio.

Lead research strategy and execution

• Define research strategies for complex, ambiguous product and customer problems.

• Partner with Product and Design to identify what must be learned before a team commits to a

direction.

• Frame research questions, hypotheses, participant profiles, methods, timelines, and decision

criteria.

• Select and combine the right qualitative and quantitative approaches, including customer

interviews, contextual inquiry, workflow observation, ethnographic research, concept testing,

usability testing, surveys, product behavior data, and competitive research.

• Recruit and engage a broad range of participants, including customers, prospects, operators,

engineers, managers, executives, Account Executives, and internal subject matter experts.

• Conduct research directly, including remote and in person sessions with customers and users in

industrial and technical environments.

• Synthesize evidence across sessions and data sources to identify patterns, unmet needs, root

causes, opportunities, and tradeoffs.

• Produce clear research readouts that help stakeholders understand what we learned, what it

means, and what decision should follow.

Influence product direction

• Embed research in product discovery and throughout the product development lifecycle, not

only at the end of delivery.

• Influence product strategy, roadmap decisions, prioritization, terminology, information

architecture, workflow design, and release readiness.

• Help Product, Design, and Engineering turn customer evidence into clear problem statements,

requirements, acceptance criteria, and testable hypotheses.

• Validate early concepts, low fidelity ideas, prototypes, and evolving product experiences before

significant engineering investment.

• Continue learning after launch through usability feedback, customer conversations, product

behavior, and other signals.

• Clearly communicate when research challenges an existing request, assumption, or business

direction, and help the team determine what to do next.

• Balance user needs with business goals, technical constraints, delivery timelines, accessibility,

security, permissions, and the realities of enterprise software.

Research complex technical experiences

• Develop a deep understanding of how Seeq users analyze data, monitor assets and processes,

investigate problems, create and share findings, and collaborate with others.

• Research workflows that span multiple personas, roles, systems, and levels of expertise.

• Bring a human centered perspective to data heavy, analytics, automation, and AI enabled

experiences.

• Help teams understand what makes AI powered experiences trustworthy, useful, explainable,

controllable, and appropriate for the user's context.

• Identify opportunities to make complex workflows simpler without removing the flexibility and

depth advanced users need.

Raise the quality and leverage of UX research

• Establish practical standards for research planning, recruiting, moderation, synthesis,

documentation, and communication.

• Build and maintain an organized body of customer evidence that teams can use when making

product decisions.

• Improve how Seeq prioritizes research capacity across product areas and customer needs.

• Mentor researchers and help Product, Design, Engineering, and customer facing teams build

sound research habits without lowering the quality bar.

• Share research methods, findings, patterns, and customer insight in ways that create alignment

and momentum.

• Identify opportunities to use tools and automation responsibly while keeping human judgment,

customer context, and research quality at the center.

• Contribute to a healthy, collaborative UX culture through critique, coaching, thoughtful

disagreement, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Six or more years of professional experience in UX research, user research, human factors, or

a related discipline, or equivalent depth of experience.

• Demonstrated experience leading research for complex products, workflows, or services with

significant ambiguity.

• Strong qualitative research skills, including interviewing, contextual inquiry, usability testing,

concept testing, moderation, and synthesis.

• The ability to use quantitative research, product behavior data, surveys, and analytics to

strengthen qualitative findings and support decisions.

• Experience partnering closely with Product, Design, and Engineering from discovery through

delivery and post launch learning.

• Experience influencing product strategy, roadmap decisions, or prioritization through research

and customer evidence.

• Strong communication skills, including the ability to make complex findings clear, concise,

compelling, and actionable for different audiences.

• Demonstrated judgment about research quality, participant ethics, confidentiality, accessibility,

and appropriate use of customer information.

• Experience mentoring others, improving team practices, or creating leverage beyond your own

studies.

• Comfort working independently, managing multiple priorities, and creating structure where the

path is not yet clear.

Helpful experience

• Research in B2B, SaaS, enterprise software, industrial technology, manufacturing, energy,

chemicals, life sciences, or another technically complex domain.

• Experience with data analytics, process analytics, dashboards, visualization, monitoring, or other

data heavy products.

• Experience researching multi user workflows, role based experiences, permissions, governance,

or collaboration across teams.

• Experience researching AI or machine learning enabled products, including trust, transparency,

explainability, confidence, and human control.

• Experience with mixed methods research, experimentation, longitudinal research, or product

analytics.

• Experience establishing a research repository, participant program, customer advisory practice,

or other repeatable research capability.

• Formal education in psychology, cognitive science, human computer interaction, human factors,

sociology, anthropology, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience is also welcome.

What We Do

Seeq Corporation develops software and services that accelerate industrial process analytics on industrial process data. Industrial process data is the collection of time-series data, events, and signals, as well as related contextual data, generated by production and manufacturing organizations. Due to the high volume, velocity, and variety of these data streams, industrial process data typically requires extensive manipulation to enable insight and analytics. Seeq's sophisticated yet easy-to-use analysis tools are applicable for industrial markets like oil refineries, pharmaceuticals, and energy production. Seattle-based Seeq also has satellite offices in the western United States and Canada. Launched in May, 2013, the experienced founding team includes executives, engineers, and data scientists formerly with OSIsoft, Honeywell, Microsoft, and Insitu. Seeq is led by Dr. Lisa Graham, CEO.
