Our platform serves customers on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices on Expedia sites and through a variety of partners.
In this role, you will:
- Design, build, and maintain full stack web experiences using React.js on the front end and Java/Kotlin services on the back end, ensuring performant, resilient, and secure user flows.
- Implement clean, reusable UI components and client-side state management patterns, collaborating with designers to translate experience requirements into responsive, accessible interfaces.
- Design low-level system components, RESTful APIs, and data models that support user-centric functionality, ensuring clear contracts, versioning, and maintainability across services.
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of features from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement based on data and customer feedback.
- Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.
- Collaborate across engineering, product, and UX to deliver cohesive experiences across multiple domains, contributing to shared patterns, libraries, and best practices that enable fungible full stack development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, low-level component designs, and data models that support scalable, secure, and reliable user experiences across full stack web applications.
- Proven ability to own features or services end to end, including development, automated testing, deployment, monitoring, and incident response within a production environment.
- Practical familiarity with AI-driven tools or systems within the software development lifecycle, and the ability to safely integrate and work with AI/ML‑enabled capabilities in products or workflows.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing and evolving front-end architectures with React.js (or similar) at scale, including performance optimization, code-splitting, accessibility, and resilient client-side state management.
- Depth in backend engineering with Java/Kotlin services, including API design, service decomposition, data modeling, and integrating with distributed systems, caches, and data stores.
- Demonstrated track record of improving operational excellence through observability, alerting, automated quality gates, and data-driven decision making for user experience enhancements.
- Experience safely integrating and operating AI/ML‑enabled features in user-facing applications, such as personalization, recommendations, or intelligent assistance, including applying AI/ML concepts to real world product scenarios.
- Familiarity with modern full stack delivery practices (such as CI/CD, feature flags, experimentation, and canary releases) and the ability to influence technical direction, patterns, and best practices across multiple teams or domains, including role-specific experience with AI-assisted development and experimentation workflows.
