Dimensions
Supporting the Assistant Underwriting Manager in the reporting and monitoring activities of MSIG Specialty Marine across its various offices (Netherlands, Belgium, France, UK, Germany and Singapore). The responsibility areas include performance monitoring, business planning, exposure management & data entry, reserving and the provision of management information and market analysis. In this role you will be exposed to numerous stakeholders and perform thoughtful analysis contributing to a valuable portfolio.
Key Result Areas
Portfolio and Performance Monitoring
Responsible for supporting the Assistant Underwriting Manager in the delivery of reserving and portfolio monitoring & analysis, whether on a regional, country or product basis. Support includes:
Preparation of performance & monitoring reports and analysis
Periodic monitoring of underwriting performance
Co-ordination of results and feeding these into reporting tools
Co-ordination and production of information stemming from ad-hoc queries to support the underwriters as required
Data quality reporting.
Business Planning
Support the Assistant Underwriting Manager in the creation and delivery of the business plan. This includes:
Process coordination of business planning
Preparation of supporting reports for discussions
Monitoring of performance (income, rate movement and losses) against business plans
Coordination of outputs and ensuring they are reported on for various stakeholders.
Strategy
Support the UM team to:
Ensure timely co-ordination, input and production of the annual Underwriting Business Plan
Ensure the regulatory requirements are embedded into the regional business plan including but not limited to allocation of capital to individual product lines, risk based
Monitor achievement of the region against the business plan, taking corrective action as appropriate
Monitor and challenge loss ratio performance for the region including the class strategies.
Exposure Management
Support Underwriters and Cat modelling team with static exposure and aggregate monitoring. This includes:
To ensure that underwriting exposure data is entered onto specialist modelling and insurance software in a timely and accurate manner
To act as a key point of contact for all queries on related classes with day to day contact with underwriters and underwriting assistants
Developed and enhanced exposure management reports and procedures, including cross-class radial reports and data management tools, to improve risk analysis and reporting efficiency.
Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure compliance with relevant entity policy, risk, regulatory and legal requirements, reporting any issues as appropriate.
Reserving
Support the Assistant Underwriting Manager with the production of reserving material for UM and Underwriters as well as ensuring rigorous challenge of both the underwriting and actuarial projections
Assist with the production of quarterly result forecasts
Projects
Support the UM team in initiating and delivering projects
Qualifications and Competencies
Proactive attitude and ability to work independently as well as being a valued team member;
Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
Previous experience within the industry desired
Knowledge of Marine insurance business is desirable but not essential
Competent using the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word)

Effective time management, attention to detail and good communication skills are also required.
Experience with Sequel Impact and / or SQL Server Management Studio is desirable but not required
