The Team

This is an exciting opportunity to become an integral member of the Art & Private Clients Division.

Our team is composed by 6 people (some of them based in Lisbon) working for the Spanish Business.

The volume of business is rising rapidly and career opportunities are excellent should individuals demonstrate the skills and success in their roles.

The development plan for Hiscox Spain is very ambitious for the next few years and it is expected that the team will grow at the same pace as the business.

The Role:

Working within the Art & Private Clients Spanish Division, this will be accountable for underwriting and renewing a caseload of existing Art & Private Client Risks for our Spanish business.  You will actively identify opportunities to cross-sell and have a strong focus on building rapport with, and delivering a superb service to our broker partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite, price and negotiate accounts consistent with the quality of the risk and guidelines for the Art & Private Client risks product line
• Develop new relationships and maintain existing relationships with brokers
• Work with operations, claims, finance and marketing to build products and contribute to the financial performance of the business unit
• Maintain excellent service standards
• Maximize the retention of existing renewals and handle mid-term adjustments on existing business
• Contribute to growing the existing business income through cross-sell and up-sell
• To deal quickly and efficiently with a large volume requests from Brokers
• To effectively negotiate with both internal and external parties including identified points of contact within a brokerage
• Maintain profitability of the account by making sound and consistent individual underwriting decisions
• To identify and challenge non-standard underwriting decisions within the Technical Underwriting Guide (TUG) with a reasoned Referral to a product expert or Senior Underwriter

Person Specification:

• At least 3 years experience in Insurance (Companies or brokers), preferably Household or Property
• Commercial skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in English
• Outgoing, driven, high attention to detail and results focused mentality
• The ability to identify business needs
• Understanding of basic sales principles, negotiation skills and demonstrate a competitive drive
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a collaborative environment
• Service focus which enables one to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external customers and partners
• Demonstrable drive, self-motivation and determination to achieve results
• Team player
