Our Cleint is seeking a Tyreman responsible for inspection, maintenance, repair, replacement, and monitoring of tyres for prime movers, trailers, and fuel tankers to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient fleet operations. The role focuses on maximizing tyre lifespan, minimizing vehicle downtime, responding to tyre-related breakdowns, and maintaining compliance with workshop safety and maintenance standards.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect tyres on prime movers, trailers, and tankers for wear, cuts, punctures, sidewall damage, and tread condition.
- Check and maintain tyre pressure according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
- Identify abnormal tyre wear patterns and report alignment, suspension, or mechanical issues.
- Remove, repair, replace, and refit tyres for heavy trucks and trailers.
- Perform puncture repairs, valve replacements, bead repairs, and tyre rotation activities.
- Carry out tyre changing using appropriate manual and hydraulic tyre handling equipment.
- Handle both tubeless and tube-type tyres safely and effectively.
- Inspect rims and wheel assemblies for cracks, bends, and damage.
- Clean wheel assemblies and ensure wheel nuts are tightened to specified torque requirements.
- Perform wheel balancing activities where applicable.
- Respond to roadside tyre breakdowns and emergency tyre service requests.
- Carry out safe tyre replacement during en-route breakdown situations.
- Follow workshop SOPs, HSE requirements, and safe lifting procedures at all times.
- Wear and maintain required PPE during tyre operations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of tyre storage areas and workstations.
- Record tyre changes, repairs, inspections, and pressure checks accurately.
- Report unsafe tyre conditions, repeated tyre failures, and abnormal wear trends to supervisors.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing tyre operating costs and downtime.
Requirements
Skills Required
- Certificate or Technical Training in Tyre Management, Automotive Mechanics, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years proven experience in tyre maintenance and repair for heavy commercial vehicles, trucks, trailers, or fuel tankers.
- Strong understanding of heavy vehicle tyre systems, pressure standards, and tyre repair techniques.
- Experience using tyre changing and lifting equipment safely.
- Ability to diagnose tyre wear causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices and HSE requirements.
- Ability to respond to emergency breakdowns and work flexible hours when required.
- Good record keeping and reporting skills.
- Physically fit and capable of handling demanding workshop and field conditions.
- Strong teamwork, discipline, and attention to detail.
