Your role in the Team:
As a Trading Services IT Trainee, your role will be to help deliver world-class and industry leading support to our global client base. We're looking for people with a passion for providing excellent customer service and who have an interest in learning more about financial markets. This role is also suited for anyone who has previous client services experience, and thrives on interacting and assisting clients with wide range of queries. The role is based in our offices in Sandton Johannesburg and will predominantly cover our global client base.
What you’ll do:
- Provide Trade and admin support to our global retail, corporate and institutional clients across phone, email, and web chat
- Support clients with the highest quality of technical help and support
- Assist clients and IG staff with IT-related issues
- Help with general queries regarding account administration and IG’s product offering
- Providing clients with technical support with our front-end platforms and chart packages such as MT4, TradingView and ProRealTime
- Day-to-day troubleshooting of technology and platform issues
- Escalate key IT or trading issues
- Keep the department informed of any major changes or incidents
- Provide training to the department and the wider business when necessary Participating in and running various local and international projects
- Gain a strong understanding of various financial instruments such as stocks, options, futures, FX, cryptocurrencies, bonds, and commodities
- Gain a strong understanding of financial markets, stock exchanges and macro-economic events
- Provide trading expertise on P&L and margin calculations, order types, charges, trade assistance & investigations
- Providing an execution-only phone dealing service (following relevant training) Answering queries and cross-selling of our products and platforms
- Running daily morning market calls

What you’ll need for this role:
What you will need is a genuine interest in working in financial markets, along with motivation levels as impressive as your aptitude for numbers and attention to detail – plus:
- A degree-level education, IT-related preferred
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Genuine interest in technology and assisting people with technological problems
- Very high level of computer literacy,
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Six months experience working in a client-facing, administrative role
- A logical, analytical approach and a high level of numeracy
- Interest in financial markets and trading an advantage
Desirable: experience of working within a financial environment
